"Multiple Security Deposits"

BMW has a "lease acquisition fee" in my state (NC). We have not been advising people to use MSDs since I thought they were now non-existent. This is an interesting update!

BMW in the past has allowed customers to buy down their Money Factor "MF"(similar to an interest rate applied by the leasing company which in this case is BMW and the going rate is .00186-.00206) by investing multiple security deposits at lease inception. This is usually smarter to do vs. putting a bunch of cash up front on a lease. The only thing $$ down will do is buy down your monthly payment. However, if you are to get in an accident and the car is totaled or stolen cash down is lost. Cash down is also not available at the end of the lease. You have to keep forking over 4-5000 upfront every time you lease the car if you want a payment that is lower than the avg.

I DO however suggest that clients of mine pay some money upfront to lower the overall capitalized cost of the lease.

What you should pay: 1st mo payment, inception fees(dealer doc, negative equity(if feasible), state fees, and if applicable the lease acquisition fee)

This usually equates to 1200-1800 in my state.

Hope this helps!!

Not at the moment but BMW resets their programs on a month to month basis so it could return.
Have yet ever done this for M cars?

Down payment vs MSD:1 is better financially and 1 makes us feel better

Already mentioned in many previous posts but when it comes to inceptions, the same applies. You can roll your inceptions in and assume absolutely 0 risk in the event of a total loss .Inceptions based upon your payment, taxes and other fees can get into the thousands .
A lot of ads say o down only inceptions but add it up and it’s a few thousand that can be lost in total loss or theft.I have a lease with MSDs and inceptions for which I risk the inceptions in the event of a loss .
As a rule of thumb never bet more than you can afford or would be willing to lose applies with down payments on leases.
Sometimes people have reasons for down payments such as the bank qualifying you for a lower monthly payment or a family member saying they don’t won’t the payment over x amount. In these circumstances you must weigh out how much car you are buying.
Always remember the golden rule:Just because you can make the payment doesn’t mean you can afford it..The banks use income to debt ratios for a reason and when they give you a limit ,it’s usually based on a financially sound formula .

Some manufacturers will allow clients to lower the money factor (the interest rate) on their lease by making a number of fully refundable security deposits up front. Typically each security deposit is equal to one month's payment (rounded up to the nearest $50) with a total of up to seven allowed. Each security deposit made will reduce the money factor by a predetermined amount and thus increase the overall savings over the term of the lease.

There is no more MSD program at BMW so it doesn't matter anymore.

But it was a program for leases where you add a high down payment in the form of multiple security deposits which will lower your monthly rate and at end of the lease you get the amount of MSD refunded. Im sure more technical but it was too good of a deal so they ended the program. Buncha finance math variables.
