I reaally want to like those wheels. I keep trying to. But they are beyond awful -- I can't remember a time when the "flagship" wheel option looked materially worse than the "freebie" wheel option.
BMW, take my money for an F80 in 2016. But: take $5,500 less of it. You are leaving a good bit of profitability on the table by persisting with an awful design. The seats are fab but even they can't overcome dat twenny-spoke ugly you got goin on dere. |

I agree with you that the wheels are not attractive, but if you like the seats and other content, why not just switch to 437M or another wheel of your choice? Yeah, it would make a lot more sense if BMW would just let you option it that way to begin with, but at least for MY2016, they decided not to do that. Still, opting out completely when wheels are so easy to switch seems extreme to me.

Sent you an email with a couple pics that show the spokes sit flat with the rim (cave in towards the center). Feel free to add here if you find them helpful.

The short answer is that it sits no higher.
This is due to the fact that the 20" wheel comes with a tire that has less side wall than the 19" wheel. The same is true for the 18" wheel too. All factory tires have effectively the same outside diameter. The long answer is that it sits imperceptibly higher. 255/35 R19 diameter = 26.03" 265/30 R20 diameter = 26.26" difference = 0.23" 275/35 R19 diameter = 26.58" 285/30 R20 diameter = 26.73" difference = 0.15" So, dividing the difference by two, the ZCP car sits 0.115" higher in front and 0.075" higher in back as compared to a non-ZCP with OEM 19" wheels. You can do the math as compared to the OEM 18" wheel too if you are curious. |

A 10mm drop would have been appreciated here! Considering that the front is 5.8mm and rear is 3.8mm higher than with 19" wheels then. I'm very interested to read reviews on the competition package and handling improvements.

Either way, the wheels aren't going to be a stumbling block for me. I just want to see if the suspension tweaks make that big of a difference to justify $5500, as well as how the exhaust sounds. I'm OK with either the base or ZCP seats.

Personally, the wheels are growing on me a bit. It will definitely look better with some spacers and a drop, but still...359's would have been nice. Props to them trying something different though.

Maybe, maybe not. But this is not the Rim Package. It's a Competition Package, and if it doesn't handle $5500 worth better than the base M3/4, then we'll talk. I look forward to the reviews, although I think I'm shying away from this. $5500 is kind of a lot of $$$.

What about the exhaust?? Muffler looks the same from the pics.
If the exhaust is new and you don't need aftermarket, that would go a long way to justify ZCP extra cost |

Pretty annoying choice in the ZCP for me.
I want: The seats, the factory black trim, the seat belts, and the factory power bump. I don't want: The wheels, the exhaust, or the active suspension. Given that, it doesn't seem to make sense for me to option it. The only way it would be worth it to me is if they let me option wheels I want and/or add a ZCP exclusive color in 2017/2018. |

Those seats are terrible!!!
Wheels I'll refrain judgement until I've seen them in the flesh. A UK forum user has stated that all LCI M3's and later M4's all have dampers with the same part numbers as Comp pack parts, earlier M3/4 have dampers with a different part number... |

Man those wheels are terrible makes the car look bad!
Bring back the old style ZCP wheels! This is the first time I prefer the non ZCP look! Love the e46 M3 ZCP, loved the e9x M3 ZCP, hate the F8x M3 ZCP. On a positive note wheels are easy to swap.

Yup, if you look at BMW ETK parts system here in lovely Europe, you can see that up until about July last year, there was only part number for EDC dampers (we have EDC as standard here). After July, that part number continued BUT there was an addition option for either Competition Package or Tyre Pressure Display. As all UK cars have TMPS as standard, one can therefore conclude that the dampers are indeed the same on UK cars now whether you have CP or normal car. This would concur with reports in press over here that the more recent cars seem to have behaved better in challenging situations (read bumpy roads). I could be completely wrong but the part numbers are there as plain to see.
