Installing the Carbon wing mirrors on the M4 - Video

The journey of modding continues. So I decided to install these myself thinking it was an easy job. Long story short its not however after completing it, felt satisfied with the job.

Hopefully it helps with anyone who wants to do it themselves.

Also the other day I was parked outside a hotel to meet a friend and 3 french guys came up to me asking about the car. The guy even had an M performance case on his iphone which was quite funny. Always nice when BMW fans walk up and just start chatting.

So these are plastic (judging by the inside) that are overlaid with CF pattern ?

Also you picked the most difficult way to install these.
All you need to do is pry the cover and it popps off. Rubbing alcohol on the mirror and fingers helps get better grip.

What brand mirror covers are these? The finish actually looks real good. The non CF side looks to be clear coated too.

I agree that you picked the hard way to install these. It’s risky to pry the mirrors since they might have cracked. I just used my fingers to pry open the covers. It wasn’t easy but it was the least likely method of damaging the covers, mirrors or tabs. Once you get the hang of it they can be removed in 30 seconds.

Yep overlaid cf.

I think my caps were really stuck on hard, I was a bit afraid to just pry it off from the side incase I broke some tabs. I saw someone else do this on the forums so I thought this might be the safest. Anyway lesson learned.

Cheers

IMO I just did this last week and I disagree. The least risk way is prying out the mirror glass. Letting it hang to the side while you pry out the 2 middle tabs.

Once you pry those, you can pull off the covers without serious damage! If you do it right, you won't crack the glass!
