New to the BMW M Culture

Hello community, been a long long time lurker and decided to take part in the community.. Little bit about me recently took ownership of a beautiful Mineral white 2018 M3 ZCP, Exc pg, sakhir orange extened, 6MT this summer. Did the European Deliver and it was an unforgettable experience. Ordered the M back in Feb of 2017, missed the the last call for production of 2017 models. Ordered a 2018 model, worked out perfectly. Production for my build started in late july and was completed july 28. August 1st was the pick up date. Wifey and i flew to Munich july 30. Arrived late night. Aug 1st picked up the M at the Welt, another unforgettable experience. Took the tour, met with the specialist went over the M drove a lap around the floor and left. Spent 4 weeks traveling around europe going far east to Romania (wife is from Dracula town). haha fast forward to now because writing about the trip would take a full day of typing and uploading pics..save that for another thread ... Highly recommend the ED program if you have the time and patience for the redeliver of your BMW. About the M3..Absolutely enjoy the vehicle. I had a 2011 E93 M3 before the F80 and that was a great car! I didnt own it very long 1 year...a fun year with that E93. Now that ive introduced a little about myself. Anyone here live in the south? New orleans area? Not much of a scene when it comes to M cars here.. or that i have noticed or seen.. Looking forward to being a part of this culture. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

Thank you! I agree i, when the time comes to buy/lease again it will be very difficult to not do the ED program. We did Munich, Prague, Berlin, Poland (Auschwitz), Veinna (1200 mile maintenance), Budapest, Sibiu (Romania), Back to Munich to drop off the M and from Munich we flew to Dubrovnik, and then back to Munich to return to the states. how long will you guys be traveling this summer?

Congrats on your new M! I just picked mine up in September as well. I'm also from the south, but I live in Arkansas. Can guarantee there is a lot less happening here in terms of cars than in Nola

Welcome. Have spent many a night in Nawlins; used to live on the Gulf Coast. Love that town. Anyway, join BMW Car Club of America (BMW CCA) if you have not already and you should find some other "///M" owners....or at least a lot of others who will likely love your car.

I live in Gulfport so not far from you. I took ED of my first F80 (Alpine white 2015 6MT). Totally awesome experience. Unfortunately, I was only able to go for 10 days because of work schedule. We spent several days in Munich, toured the castles then drove down to Venice. The most painful part of the experience was waiting for redelivery. A currently have a Yas Marina 2018 DCT.

Be careful

The M culture includes ritual beatings for those that drive a DCT.

Also if you don't option the competition pack you may receive 100 lashes.

Just thought you should know what you are getting into. Think "la cosa nostra" Minus the extortion and jail time.

OP, so which car handled better, the E93 or the F80, when you go over the Huey P. Long Bridge? I loved that little bend in the road crossing over.....especially next to a fully loaded Tractor Trailer.

Funny, because totally agree and this last time my wife had other non-car travel plans for us, so we just spent three days in Munich, but never actually drove the car.

Secretly I was bummed, and ideally we would have, but it was blast even not driving the car! The ED itself was fun and then we went back to the Welt (and lounge) the following 2 days, did a custom museum tour, and some other things at the Welt / BMW HQ. We used the lounge as a place to relax and unwind, and then we'd go back out and tour stuff. It was super fun and actually a much different / new experience I'd recommend whether someone takes the car out or not.

The sum is, yeah, we likely won't get a car any other way given we're lucky enough to have the choice.

Congrats! There's a decent amount of M cars between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I've met a lot of great M enthusiasts during the local Cars and Coffee meets. Come out to a C&C meet when you get a chance. See you around!

We usually spend one day at the Welt then move on to do other things. Where you able to continue to use the lounge and other services for the days preceding your delivery?

Wife and I just got back last night from a trip to Paris (10 year wedding anniversary) and I kinda missed not having an ED car while in Europe. Had a great time and did a bunch of stuff that we missed last time but there is just something nice about having your own car while on vacation. French food is Awesome!

Did you remove your turn signal stalk? You will no longer be needing it.
