Is there a website or app that can identify gas stations' max octane? I only see them labeled generically as "premium," without specifically showing 91 or 93.
That would be the shit.

Here in Vancouver, only Chevron offers a 94 octane with NO ethanol. If the compression is not high enough to benefit from the lower combustibility of a higher octane, it's a waste of money. I would imagine most cars wouldn't need it, but curious to know if there is a power output difference (objective not subjective) in the F8x between 94 and the minimum recommended 91 octane.

You'd be surprised that Jet fuel (mostly kerosene) is not the best fuel there is. It is used in jet engines because turbine engines can run on practically anything and there is not much other use for kerosene.

Funny story...I used to work for a place that manufactured jet refueling trucks/tankers...you would be surprised the number of people who stole jet fuel and put it in their car only to find out their car would not run!

Yeah, we use the same fuel(JP-8) in our generators as we do in our airframes.

In B.C the top tier gas we can get is either Shell 91 or Chevron 94
Still thinking which one i should stick into. Some say Shell 91 is better and some say Chevron 94 is better. Both contains no ethanol

That's not even a question, of course 94 is better. It's not like Shell has a much better additive package. 3 points of octane is small matter.

This is an interesting bit of information.
Assuming for the sake of discussion what you say is accurate (I have no particular reason to doubt you, and I don't wish to challenge you on it), the question is - how do you define and then identify "cheap gas". I suppose brand is one way? But that seems hit or miss. Is there a way to tell what's actually coming out of the pump is "cheap" or - what's a good word for the opposite of cheap in this context, "choice", "select", "Dijon" - gasoline? Is there a little test kit I can use or something, if I were so inclined to concern myself with the ingredients in my car's food? Quote:
