Looking for M4 2016-2019 - couple of questions

Hello, I have been a BMW fanatic for my whole life but last 7 years completely did not pay attention had no need for them....

well time has come, and I am purchasing an M4 convertible... what's the best year?

looking at 2016-2019 40k-47k DCT.

what to look for in one over the other?
Trying to keep miles under 30k for any of the cars.

need crazy colors
YAS, ORANGE or white/red worst case.

Thank you!

Your post doesn’t make sense. You say you haven’t had a need, nor paid attention to, BMWs for the past seven years yet you own two MY ‘28 BMWs

So now you’re looking for a f83 between MYs ‘16-‘19. Are you looking for a base or Comp model? MY ‘18 was the LCI which includes the optional ICON LED headlights and standard new taillights as well as other updates/upgrades. For MY ‘17 BMW updated the torque curve so the torque peak was > 2k rpm to improve driveability but I actually prefer the MY ‘15-‘16 ecu tuning with peak torque < 2k rpm. Options/packages add more features but doesn’t necessarily make a car with them better than a car without - it’s an individual owner’s preferences.

Besides YMB and SO, there are plenty of awesome Individual paint colors but some colors do show up on the used car market more frequently whereas other colors rarely do. You never know what Individual colors are available until you start looking at what’s on the used car market. Are you looking for a 100% stock car or you don’t mind mods? Have you looked at the cars for sale on this forum yet? You’re still going to pay more for a < 30k mile car so your budget, depending on MY, may not get you a car with < 30k miles. Although you’re looking for a f83 so it’s still a possibility.

Had my F83 for near 2 years now.
My ‘ideal’ spec was a low mileage post LCI 2018/2019 competition pack. I was looking for a standard car with no mods, preferably an approved used and well serviced dealership vehicle with extended warranty. As the previous poster stated to benefit from post LCI too.
More importantly, I left the colours as an open minded approach.

Again, As the previous poster said, there are plenty of great colour combinations out there. Certainly some great individuals too.
Great bit of advice that
The final spec may also have to be a give and take approach. Although most were highly specced anyhow. Assuming you have the hot air collar then a standard post LCI spec is pretty good. UK that is.

Ended up finding a stock 2019 low mileage dealer car. Competition in tanzanite with Sonoma beige extended leather. My initial colour was actually yas Marina with silverstone. Although the tanzanite really won me over in the sun. Metallic really stands out.
Agreed a better deal with dealership too, getting a 4 year extended warranty thrown in.

Check for water drains underneath the rear quarters and if they have been cleared. This can lead to water build up and leaks inside the rear and boot.
Also check for exhaust cams tapping as this is due to them requiring re torquing. Common issue on S55.

I've your purchasing this BMW M3 from a dealership, I would negotiate having them replace the convertible roofs rubber seals. They have been known to leaks, ruining your leather.

Get a coupe. The latest year that you can find. Verts are for cruisers not performance coupes.
