- The M emblem in the seats is not backlit. The logo is made of a "glow in the dark" material, but it is not powered.
- At least in Europe, the trim is optionally glossy or matte. At the show it was glossy.

Per my own impression of the new seats as someone who is 6'2" with most of my height in my legs and who had an E46 M3, they are comfortable and supportive. There is no extendable thigh support, but the new seat offers at least as good if not better thigh support than did the E46 seat with the adjustable support. My critique is that they don't provide much lateral support up near the shoulders. They look good and like they would provide some cornering support, but I could easily rock side to side. I hope the cloth will provide more gripe. Though I was disappointed that the cloth in the 2-series on hand proved to be almost as slippery as leather...

I'm also very disappointed you can't get cloth and the HUD in the USA models.

And finally, it is disappointing they will not be available for delivery until June. Nor any available for test drives until that point.

Regards

Wow, excellent quality in those pics. It's like I'm there.

Maybe its just me but the cars don't look as big in these pictures for some reason, especially the first few shots of the M3.

I believe that the OP's comment was that the *combination* of cloth upholstery and HUD will not be available in US models. In other words, in the US, if you want HUD you need to order leather seats. That is to say, HUD only comes as part of the Executive Package, which necessarily includes leather upholstery..

Yes, my apologies for the poorly edited wording. *combination* is indeed missing from the original post, as both cloth and the HUD are available in US models. Just not together. BMW USA, please allow the HUD to be a stand alone option!

Thanks

You cannot get cloth interior and HUD together in the car with US spec. Getting executive package removes cloth interior and forces you to get either extended or full leather.
HUD is not available as standalone option.

Hi. I would love to get photos of the F36 gran coupe, but those will have to wait for Geneva, or a chance encounter with a Werks car (it was nowhere public at Brussels). I have a few photos of the M6 gran coupe, but I think that has been well covered elsewhere.

I'm a huge fan of sporty rear drive hatchbacks, so am watching closely for this one. Even more than I want BMW NA to let us to get the M3/4 with the HUD and cloth seats (seeing as there is no cooling option for the new M3/4 leather seats [notable for hot climates], as there is in the 5- and 6- series).

But if I'm able to make it to Geneva as planned I will definitely post. Cheers

Hi. Color and styling preferences are definitely "eye of the beholder" issues. But AY definitely showed the details/curves on the car very well. It is a visually grainier metallic - if that makes any sense - than most of the others. Lighting was artificial, so I could draw no definitive conclusions, but other BMW models were present in MW, SO, MG (and of course YMB), and it and SO were the best at showing creases and curves.

I'm mostly leaning towards SO with YMB being a very close second but now after these photos AY has popped up on the radar for me. And here I thought I finally had it down to two colors...

Best pictures I've seen so far of these cars. Finally some images that do the cars justice! The M4 really does look rather special.

Love both cars, but very strange not to have 100 on the speedometer.

Good catch. I didn't notice this until you pointed it out. I went back through my photos of the other BMW instrument clusters, and they all had numbers in 20 KPH increments (ending at 260). Since the M3/4 has a speedo that goes up to 330 they must have had to increase the increment to 30 KPH to keep it legible.

This does however make me wonder if the cars which are governed in the range of 250 KPH / 155 MPH will have different speedos (i.e. a more standard display with 20 KPH increments ending at 260). I really doubt it, but it will leave a fair bit of the speedo that could not be used (even on the track or in Germany).

He matte looks better to me:

As posted before, the gloss window trim option name is Shadowline. There is no name for the standard flat trim outside the USA.
