Satellite Radio says "No Signal"

Has anyone had this happen. I just got a 2017 M3 with a free satellite radio subscription and I activated and still says "No Signal".

Anyone experience this and have a solution before I got to the service center.

Dumb question but are you underneath any buildings or in a underground parking lot?

This reddit link explains what is most likely going on

https://www.reddit.com/r/siriusxm/co...n_puerto_rico/

BMW switched from the Sirius Chips to the XM Chips in MY 2016.

Nope
I guess this is one thing I won't be able to use on my radio.

What about letting the OP determine via a BMW dealer in Puerto Rico the actual answer to the problem instead of posting a link with an opinion and not an official answer? After all, Sirirus did not tell the OP that there is no service to BMW tuners in Puerto Rico.

Sorry you are upset your response as “Dealer time” was incorrect.

God forbid you would read the current SiriusXM service agreement before posting

Again, there is Sirius service for pre 2016 BMWs. There is no XM service for 2016+ cars.

If it’s really important to you, I’ll be happy to swap my NBT and Parts with Sirius Chips for your NBT EVO and Parts with XM chips.

You keep posting things that are not helping to find the problem.

- the link that you provided refers to a 2007 tuner. OP tuner is a 2017.
- the image posted refers to Sat radio service, which even includes Puerto Rico with limited coverage. There is no definitive information in this thread that points to a "limited coverage" problem.

You are not helping -even if you think that you are.

There is a reason the OP posted this question after calling Sirius. Let the OP decide if a visit to the dealer -or another Sirius call- is warranted or not.

From October 2016
http://newtopuertorico.com/services/...n-puerto-rico/

"SiriusXM works in Puerto Rico but ONLY under the Sirius platform, NOT the XM or the SiriusXM platforms. So, if your satellite radio is an XM or SiriusXM radio, it WILL NOT work here in Puerto Rico, trust me, I have the experience to prove it and I will tell you it further down if you are interested. But, currently, if your car does not already have a radio compatible with the Sirius platform then you must get an after market radio. Currently there are 2 devices that would work here, the Stratus 7 and the Starmate 8; I have the Sportster 5 but they don’t sell that one anymore, you’d have to get it used (likely) on Ebay or Amazon."

Only the OP can say if Sirius said that when the call was made. Just because some person is answering a problem with a 2007 tuner means nothing to the OP problem.

Personally, I only pay attention to the source.

Out...

LOL.

NO Satellites footprint over Puerto Rico from the 2 STATIONARY XM Birds (Rock and Roll) over CONUS means no reception in Puerto Rico.

Sirius 3 Satellites are NOT Stationary, but fly in a figure 8 orbit thus providing a footprint in Puerto Rico. Furthermore, the Sirius Birds have 20 ground repeaters to fill in the coverage.

Basic RF. No RF. No signal.

I realize you post on all things technical and are upset you were wrong, but, good god, admit you were wrong, drop it and move on.

The OP realized this and moved on. Only you are beating a dead Sirius Dog.

None of, including you, are perfect.

Just because some of us actually researched the subject before we posted and you did not, that is not our fault.

I actually spoke with a business colleague at SiriusXM days ago who sent me the copy of the current Terms of Service confirming the Puerto Rico information.

Thanks for the great information. I totally understand what is going on now and will play that card a the dealership to try to get something for free in compensation of a service included and not able to use it here.
