Navigation shows incorrect position

Something interesting happened to me yesterday.

As I put an address in my GPS, it seems like it was showing my position about 500 feet away from where I actually was. This meant that it kept recalculating, making the GPS virtually unusable.

Now, I do have a Carbon Fiber antenna cover - do you think that's what caused it? I've used it in the past with it on and had no issue.

If the antena cover is to blame, where can I get OEM black antena cover? I'd just rip out the yas marina one and install the new one.

Thanks in advance.

PS: My roof is wrapped black, that's why I had to match the antena

Was this a one-time incident or has it continued?

The only thing I can think of is that your GPS antenna didn't connect with sufficient number of satellites (maybe only 2 or 3), therefore, didn't had accurate triangulation of your position. This could be due to location or overcast weather.

I wouldn't sweat over it if it doesn't come back regularly.

Is your antenna cover real carbon fiber? Carbon fiber is known to shield RF signals so if yours is real, you will most likely have continued issues with GPS.

Any idea where I can get a plastic Sharkfin cover?
I really don't want to take off the original one, but would rather like to get a glossy black cover.

Dealer. All the fins that come on cars with the CF roof are gloss black.
