Beyond what you just mentioned, BMW won't let you customize it I believe. Yellow for CCB's, Blue for Steel.

I might, I kind of like the contrast the standard grille gives though. With the black wheels on a black car, I feel like the grille might be overkill. We'll see regarding the rest of the car

The roof looks great! I mentioned before it's hard to see a difference in pictures, in person it's very noticeably different though. A cool little contrast on top of the car.

Terp,

I'm in Arlington too. Nice to see some other people from the DMV on the board. What dealership did you go through to do ED?

I used Sterling, they were very easy to work with. For those asking, I've got a better pic of the CF roof from delivery at the Welt. Enjoy!

Very nice pics and congratulations on the new M3. Seeing that you have done the ED twice now, I was hoping you could answer a few questions. How do you manage the break in period on the vehicle and driving it around Europe? Were you pretty good about adhering to the break in schedule?

As well, can BMW provide any sort of film protection on the vehicle so that you don't incur chips or paint damage while driving the car through Europe?

Thanks!

Sure thing. I kept it below 4500 rpm for almost the whole trip, once I got closer to 1000 miles I did a few acceleration bursts with the car. The long highway stretches help put miles on quickly, but I was mindful to vary my speeds and revs to try to get a good break in.

BMW, as far as I know will not provide any sort of film protection...however, last time I made this journey with a 1 series, I got a couple nasty rock chips on the hood. When the car was redelivered to the states, they were gone. I'm not sure at what point the car was repaired, but when it showed up at my dealer it was immaculate once again. I can only assume something similar would happen nowadays.

Thanks for the kind remarks!

I've done a couple Euro Deliveries myself.

Drivetrain Break-In: To keep within the spirit of the run-in requirements, try to map out a driving itinerary that covers several hundred miles of driving in mixed conditions. Head south into the Alps, find some of your favorite passes and make a big loop... With a little bit of work you'll have north of 750 miles on the car in fairly short order.

For me, it is WRONG not to run your ED BMW on the Nordschleife, even if only on a "parade laps" basis. Please be advised that you can safely drive there without engaging FULL LUNATIC mode, and be very satisfied knowing that you did it. Don't worry about BTG lap times or any of that! Just have the experience.

Paint Protection:
Believe it or not, cars can be driven and enjoyed without auxiliary paint protection.

Moreover, the "Euro Delivery Gods" are a lot like Santa Claus. He brings good things to patient boys and girls.
Non claim-worthy mishaps have a way of vanishing between drop-off and when you see the car again.

I believe its all done at one of BMW NA's VPC's (Vehicle Preparation Center). I heard that even damaged/kurbed wheels are replaced here as well - before redeliver at at your local dealer or PCD in SC.

Awesome trip! This time I plan to find some new passes on my way to Como/Bellagio to windsurf for a couple days, then down to Portofino for more of the same.

Good catch. I saw that and just assumed he had the DCT.

Man I'm so happy for you and also jealous! I honestly got to drive the '15 M3 with the same colors (inside and out) just a few hours ago. It's the test-drive car at BMW of Austin. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Then I had to get back in my lowly E90 M3 (poor me HAHA!!) but I'll be dreaming of that new ///M3 even more now, in addition to knowing how it actually drives.

MASSIVE CONGRATS to you and I hope you enjoy it safely for years to come!

PS: The ROAR of that engine. Coming from the V-8 I'm driving now, I had no idea how much I would love the grunt and rasp of that new six. It's amazing! Doubters and haters need to drive it.
