Not an expert on mags, but here's why I went with BBS:
- quality, made in Germany. Known brand to me.
- style and better look for my car color (I hope), check the pics.
- wanted a dark wheel for winter as I have the 19" silver ones now

I do think they are also a bit pricy ($400Cdn) for a winter wheel but I have bought my car so i want something that I really liked and I was on the fence for the Rial P10 which I don't know much about and didn't do further research. I think you won't go wrong with either, tire rack wouldn't recommend something that could be of bad quality. Cheers.
PS: just realized my second pic wasn't for the Rial P10

Both look money imo. Will probably buy one or the other in early Oct. I am doing ED so won't get to see my car until late Oct, then the painful 6 plus weeks for re-delivery....

With tire tax and with GST/PST taxes it came to roughly $3100. The price includes installation on car but I may just do it myself.

I was going to buy from tire rack and ship to Canada but with USD it comes even more and they don't carry Nokian and in the end I thought it's good to deal w local stores for warranty, service, ... I was impressed w the knowledge at VAG, they know their stuff.

I had an offer from my dealer for a one season used 255/40R18 Conti on the 640m but I thought better to get new, w just $500 difference.
You don't think 18x8 is going to be too narrow in the rear on dry roads? As I'm sure you know, factory winter set is 18x8.5f, 9r

Honestly, I really don't know! I was going by what tire rack recommended, and all the four wheels they have were 18x8 and I want a square winter setup. As long as the tire fits on the wheel, I think it's ok. I don't know what other combinations are plausible but I know gthal went with Nokian R2 on 19x8.5".

I will ask again my store when I go to order.

I had Michelin PA4 on my M5, they were worn out after 2 winters, but still usable for the 3rd winter season with some reservation on really deep snowy condition as thread is down to close to minimum. Way too much tq put onto a powerful car with very soft compound tires. Traction and dry road handling were great though.

@apollo580 most of my readings are summarized in the last two pages and based on very good reviews from experienced winter drivers. It depends where you are in Canada. If you are out East, probably better to go with tires oriented towards worst winter conditions like Nokian. I am going 18" because we have many potholes and for better snow handling and getting real mags BBS not replicas. More expensive but my M deserves it

Ditto here, LM-32's from my dealership (Budd's) of all places. Cheaper than my usual source (Tire Rack) by about $400 with our dollar as bad as it is. And if the snow situation is crappy and the wider tires are likely to be challenged, we've got a couple other cars to use. Happy to be keeping OEM sizing, most of the winter use this car will see will be cold but dry with patches of ice or packed snow occasionally.

Are you guys using your OEM 19" wheels and mount the winter tires on them?

Yup, lucky enough to have picked up a set of black ones from Ragazzi a few months back, he wasn't fond of them and got silver instead I believe.

If my incoming LM32's are anything like all of the other Blizzaks I've had over the years, they'll be excellent. Only issue is they're OEM 19" sizes which may limit me a bit in deeper snow. Solution...take the other car/truck on those days.

If you mean the R2's (I don't see an H2 on the Nokian website), I considered them but their overall diameter for the 255/35/19's - which you'd do square, they don't make a 275/35/19 - was 25", a full 1"+ less OD than the OEM setup. Didn't like that so I opted for the Blizzaks above.

My mistake. You were going with 19s. I stepped down to 640M 18s.

Simply Tire has LM-32s in stock. PA4s are about a 10 day wait, but only available in a square setup (255s all around). That was the information I was given earlier today.

I want the PA4s, but unsure about stretching the rears.
