GTA: Winter Wheels Group Buy

Just throwing this out there in case anyone would be interested in trying to get a group discount for a set of Apex EC7 Wheels for winter use.

I have a new 2017 M4 on order and should be taking delivery soon but before you know it winter will hit us.

I'm personally interested in the 18x9" ET31 APEX EC-7 Wheels with 255/45/18 square setup.

There are a few Apex dealers in the GTA so we might be able to get a group discount if there are several people interested.

Sure I'm interested. The cheapest I've been able to find is direct from Apex at $299 per wheel + $146 UPS shipping. (this is USD)

I called WheelsCo for a quote and their price was roughly the same (factoring in the currency conversion).

If we can find something cheaper in a Canadian group buy, I'm all for it.

Ok, this is great, so far we have 5 people interested. Let's keep it coming and I will start contacting some of the Apex dealers later this month to see if we can get a discount on a group buy.

Tire manufacturer supported pricing and rebates aren't out yet so we still have a little bit of time.

We need to see if we can all come to an agreement on a specific winter tire as well. Here are some winter performance tire options:

Bridgestone Blizzak LM001
Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4

My vote is for the Dunlops. These three will more or less perform the same in snow/dry, but I read that Dunlops will wear better than the other two.

The Pirelli's are a bit better than the Dunlops on dry pavement, but Dunlop is superior to Pirelli in snow.

Mind you the performance of the Michelins, Bridgestones and Pirellis are all better than the Dunlops on dry pavement. But it's marginally better.

However, what you want are good snow tires, particularly on those days you get hit with a snow storm. Especially on an RWD torque monster like the F8x. I would choose the better snow performing tire considering that I wouldn't drive like an idiot on dry winter pavement anyways.

I too am interested in a winter wheel package. As it stands, I will be ordering something from Allen at Simply Tire if a deal cannot get worked here.

List of folks interested? Might be able to help this group out but need more details. If you are interested, add your name to this list and repost. I ran Apex wheels last winter, best setup is 18x9.5 et22 square, 255/40/18 tire. I see other wheel/tire sizes mentioned above.

I'm still interested in the Apex 18" wheels and 255/40/18 tires. I'm not that picky about the tire manufacturer so I will go with the majority. I'm ok with any of the options previously mentioned.

I'm in for a set as well, depending on price of course. I have set of 19's (square set up), with either Michelin Alpin PA4's or Bridgestone Blizzak LM32's lined up for about $2,500.

Will this deal be better?

If the wheels are 19" apex and wheels + tires are brand new that is a very good deal.

Were these 18 or 19 inch wheels? Specs?

And out of curiosity, what kind of springs or coilovers did you run? - no snow plow clearance issues?

IMO it's not a great deal then. Rep wheels are cheap, might have issues with them when you hit a pot hole.

Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks!
