M4 CS achieves a 12.01 @ 122.6mph 1/4 mile
https://www.motormag.com.au/events/p...the-drag-strip
M4 CS did a 12.01 @ 197.25 (122.6mph) quarter mile during Australia's Motor Magazine Performance Car of the Year. Not too shabby

The M4 CS also had the 4th best lap time. Most impressive is the E63S, with it's 2nd best lap time on regular street tires . Cayman S is also impressive with the 3rd best lap time despite being significantly down on power.
Overall the M4 CS finished in 7th place out of 10 cars with the Civic Type-R taking the top honours.

Alfa has been slower in every track test that I've seen. It gets rave reviews for road manners and driver engagement.

I disagree, I think it's really good looking especially in person.

"Launch control generates too much wheelspin"
Stopped reading there. In the 5 or 6 times I've used it there's been zero wheelspin. Get the rears north of 85-90 F and it hooks. Yet again a car mag launching on cold tires. Funny because it's brake pedal has zero connection to the brakes itself, it's brake-by-wire. |

Well you should have read on. They say that once they got the tires warmed up, it launched like a catapult. They even mention it as one the M4 CS strenth. How do you think they achieved the 122.6mph trap?

I have used launch control on my 18 M3 ZCP on smooth roads, grippy roads, and sandy roads. On every instance, you could hear something intervening in order to keep the car from breaking into crazy wheelspin. I then took it to a drag strip (unprepped) and tried using the launch control with warm tyres.... The rpm just shot to red line in 1st, it changed to 2nd and went straight to the red line again, changed to 3rd and did the same, that's when I backed off to get it going straight again. Tried a few times with the same outcome. On the street it works perfectly for some reason. |

X3 M40i or X3M is pretty tempting in light of no high performance wagons from BMW

Noooooo. It's a matter of opinion, obviously. But I think it looks great on pictures, cheap on the road. I've seen a couple already and they just don't look the part.
