This is what is happening. I was perplexed by the same noise for a week or so and asked my girlfriend (who was pulling into the driveway behind me) if the rear wheel came off the ground when I made the turn in. The car really is that stiff!

Me too. First thought I was scraping something underneath.
Ps flummoxed is an underused word.

Mine does this too. Didn't really figure it out until one time when I basically crawled up the driveway and the car got stuck because the diff was trying to manage the wheel being off the ground (everything was dry too!).
The extra stiff chassis makes changing tires a breeze though, I use my floor jack under the front jacking point and the whole driver's/passenger's side easily comes off the ground. I definitely want a quick jack system, but it's just not in the budget right now. |

My guess is the hill assist braking. When slow manoeuvring on an incline I find when creeping forward after being stationary the brakes are still on and it briefly gives a sound like OP describes.

Same with me. My old driveway had a steep slope and I had to pull in at an angel with the bumper gettin about 1” of clearance and either one wheel would come off the ground or even two wheels momentarily. It would teeter as I crawled it into the driveway. The car is stiff.

My rear lifts as well on certain driveways. I'm in my case the "grinding" noise is the rubber flaps under the front of the car. They are thrashed.

Totally normal...wait until you hear a rock get caught in the brake shield.
Lots of "odd" noises in these cars that are all just part of its character. For the most part, if it's something to be concerned about, some sensor will trigger a warning of some sort. Want to hear some strange noises, go track one of these some day.
