Valves? Inlet outlet? Design?

BMW did all that. Why repeat the work? If you want hyper sound, buy a used Ferrari.

I would invest on downpipes on a turbo. This adds lots of cheap hp.

I paid 350 for my X5M muffler and no more. It made the car louder but not better.

Some day over the rainbow... I would buy a used performance exhaust for less than 1k and no more.

These prices are ridiculous.

FWIW, Complete Termignoni systems for most Ducati's are crazy priced, anywhere from 2 to 3 K plus for superbike systems. Most are stainless pipes with either CF or Ti sleeved cans. They contain no Sport Cats, or Ti pipes. Conversely full Akra Ti Evo systems were relatively inexpensive for a BMW S1000RR by comparison. I too think the Akra M3/4 systems are high, but add in full Ti construction, sport cats, and valves, not to forget the fit and finish makes somewhat of a case for the cost. Also those are full retail prices, expect prices to level out once the demand drops.

I am going to defiantly hold out for the BMW M performance. I was able to hear this exhaust while I was in Europe doing ED for my car. I also was able to hear the M performance and In my opinion the M performance takes my money. The Akrapovic exhaust is just to raspy for my liking. Looks beautiful but a bit over price.

People, you own a $80k plus car and complaining about $6k. I feel the F8x crowd is much more frugal than the previous E9x owners. E9x just knew how to make it rain!!

OK, even if you ratio the prices, someone with a $40k car is not paying $3k for an exhaust, someone with a $20k car is not spending $1,500.

To put it in perspective, for $6k you could add almost all of the following to an STI: larger turbo, FMIC, injectors, fuel pump, TBE, intake, AP and protune and make >400whp.

Yeah 6k isn't just a drop in the bucket dude. . . And this is literally for sound and maybe a tiny little bit of dick magnet status for other people who know what Akra is and see your diffuser, no real power gains or anything.

But you still have an STI, not a BMW M4. People stop this madness!

You will be surprised. This exhaust is quite popular in the s2000 crowd. The other versions for 350z/370z are popular as well and just as expensive. NSX prices are out the roof as well.

Pretty sure the akra will be selling off the shelves. My buddy that works at bmw has been installing many of these on previous gens and they soooooo expensive

Which was louder? MPE or Akra?

This sounds like someone who hasn't actually heard one in person or has only heard a free rev.

Car sounds great once it's actually moving. It sounds horrible at idle.
I concur! At the car control clinic the F80's sounded amazing. I don't know what all the hype is about the V8 exhaust note- I didn't own one, but when I test drove one a while back, I didn't hear the glorious soundtrack that so many people clammer about. It sounded good, but it lacked the ferocious popping and angry gurgling that this F80 produces.

Exhaust note from factory was relatively subdued, and you must have babied the car if you didn't get blown away by dat intake noise!

I don't like the trend of uncircumcised exhaust tips. Maybe it's an American-thing, but I prefer my exhaust tips without foreskin.

Perhaps. It was a "test drive" at the dealer after all...

its funny how a lot of people bashing the exhaust. Its like when the new E9x came out and the Akra was introduce people were like nah too expensive... then waited almost a year everyone has them.. lol same people that talk trash about it...

But yes sound wise i still prefer my E92, but will definitely get one in a year, ill wait for others to test it out first before ill hop one into it.

Different times, different car. As someone who strongly considered the Akra for my e93 I can say i'm not remotely considering akra for this car. There are 3 reasons for that:

(1.) Been there done that. Ti exhausts, inconel, blah blah blah. It's like when carbon fiber trim first came out MUSTHAVE! now .... eh.

(2.) The e9x has a V8 and the akra was not only beautiful, it delivered real gains and real sound. On this car, it's just nice looking (until you mount it and then you never see it)

(3.) The price is absolutely ridiculous.

Something else to consider is I just sold my 5+ year old Akra E90 M3 system for slightly more than half of what I paid for it. Not bad.

I think far from "everyone" is rocking Akra on their car. For me, it's one of the worse sounding exhausts eben before you factor in cost. The e9x one wasnt even that pretty, the carbon tips were cut raw.
