Firmware Update to psdZ 61.x
Being bored, again, I decided to update some of my ECUs from 59.3 (F020-16-07-504) to 61.0 (F020-17-03-502). As usual and being lazy I only flashed the interesting ECUs with swfl update: DME, ICM, EGS, VDC.
The flash went smooth like butter Ive attached something fun, a view of the TAL process ! I will drive the car for few days to check for any suttle differences, cant say anything not to bias anyone, then I will code in the ZCP ICM/VDC/DSC. PS: interesting tidbit, during the whole flash session, the PSU was delivering 13-15Amps, even with the water pump running (don't know which). PPS: In case no one looks at stickie'd threads, check this if you are curious about flashing. Last edited by aboulfad; 05-13-2017 at 06:21 PM.. |

...but 503 is out :-P
(I believe it's only NBT2 updates from 502, and probably only for those running id5) I disconnected my EVC (BMS) from my OBDII port and noticed some differences with the stock Exhaust Valve behavior in Sport+... there seems to be different logic now, but I could be wrong since I practically never drove w/ stock valve logic before. Won't spill the beans about my supposition (edit: for fear of skewing your objectivity) but am eager to hear if you notice any difference in that arena. Also, when starting with valves open, do you notice a difference in startup 'blip'? I thought it might rev a little higher (like a ZCP 'lite' without valves opening), but it could be exactly the same for all I know. What'd you use to generate the graph? my wife did notice something different she said the exhaust sounds deeper, and I thought it was placebo effect. I had the window open (+1C), and revved the engined to 3krpm in neutral, it sounds deeper and some revmatching blips are more noticeable, but that I think is the new ASD.
All the above in S+ engine mode! The graph is auto generated by Esys. Last edited by aboulfad; 04-26-2017 at 06:06 AM.. |

There are so many nooks in Esys that I haven't even looked at yet. Good to know graphing is built in! Last edited by packet.pilot; 03-19-2017 at 12:00 AM.. |

My stock exhaust on a non ZCP car definitely has a different cold start sound now after I had the dealer update the software a couple of days ago.
Just noticed it today as I was doing some coding. |

I've noticed the same as you also. Deeper, more present exhaust sound. I have to say I like it.
I thought it was in my head. Also noticed, same as aboulfad that the DCT downshifts better (a nice little blip) when you're slowing down. Or maybe we're all just crazy. |

Ok so after two days, I really can't think of anything that feels different aside from some different exhaust notes... I did notice other "stuff" but I'll chuck it to the "firmware update placebo" !

Do you drive with an exhaust valve controller? Trying to gauge whether perceived deepness of timbre can be attributed to different exhaust valve control logic alone (or at all).

Though once I did reset 2 or 3 of the adaptations procedures in ISTA, and again I think the car felt nice... but maybe it's "adaptations reset placebo" |

Hey
My dealer just updated my F82 to F020-17-03-503 Will redo all the usual coding tomorrow. What's new in this version (v61.0 F020-17-03-503) ? I am coming from v58 ZCP suspension damper settings ? Exo note ? Cheers |

I think 58.x was one important release that had the most publicly reported opinions on improvements... I went from 58.x to 59.x and now to 61.0, and honestly the differences IMHO are nothing major to report about (some stuff for traction control and other wildly reported placebo improvements). The exo note is one that some of us are reporting for 61.
I haven't looked at the ICM/VDC default coding but my guess is that it is coded as it should be for non ZCP cars if you have an non ZCP car. My next step is to code those for ZCP and see again, fact or placebo PS: psdZ releases have no release notes that describe changes in different ECUs. |

Going in tonight to have my dealer update me to the most recent software. Am I correct that F020-17-03-503 is the most recent?
I'm running the original software (yes like almost beta software) from build dates in 2014 on my F82. So I hear I'm in for quite a noticeable difference. |

I'm sure I've seen this documented -somewhere- but cannot find it anymore. How might one find out the software number of what is currently loaded?

@GlazierGlaze , you may and will find many differences, especially if you have a DCT. Also some improvements on suspension, traction,...
