A preview of HRE's R1 project!

HRE’s new R1 series wheels are the next evolution in HRE wheel designs. Premiered for the first time on IND’s F80 M3 SEMA car, the R101 represents an iterative step in motorsport wheel design, with a spoke shape that raises the bar once again in strength and light weight design.

We're very excited not only for the R101 itself due to it's even lighter construction, but for the direction this represents for HRE. The pursuit of progressively better engineering is something that always inspires us at IND, and the products HRE has planned for their R1 program certainly fall within this realm.





The R101 will be available in 17”, 18”, and 19” sizes and will specifically target large brake fitments like the F8x M CCB system. Ultimately HRE will expand the R1 series program to include innovative motorsports-oriented wheel designs specifically built to accommodate modern large brake systems, wide tires, and the very high cornering loads created by today’s extreme performance tires.

How is this better engineered? You mention lighter weight and better engineering....through what new process? What is advanced about this wheel?

From a spoke design standpoint, this looks a good deal like a 19" version of the BBS SR wheel I just bought for my winter setup....but with a much more centered offset of course and some nice rounding to the spoke edges

So what the difference between a 19" P101 and a 19" R101 wheel?

Beautiful mono-block wheels. I would assume that the R-101 will have additional actions during the forging process to further strengthen the wheel vs. the P-101...so it will be more expensive. Definitely track-only, as I'd assume the P-101 will serve more than adequately for the street.

Would love it as a track wheel for my F82, but I fear I don't have that sort of racing budget...I need a sponsor (anyone, anyone...?).

The BBS wheels mentioned are cast, therefore a smoother, more flow-oriented design vs forged. Less-expensive and not made for heavy track duty, unlike these babies.

Pricing on the R-101? in 18x9 and 18x10 preferably

Yes, just to be clear I brought up the BBS from a spoke design perspective - very similar.

The construction of those two wheels, the quality of the finish, are in very different levels. BBS has some high-end construction - the BBS SR is not on that high end.

My main point was around the claims of a new level of design and engineering - that's marketing speak unless some specific data is shared.
