i still prefer the F80 M3, however the M4 is SUCH a huge improvement over the prior M3 Coupe. It's finally got some attitude. These pics are very cool and i love Austin Yellow!

I should take a pic of mine right now. They are definitely functional, funny having the salt/road debris stains made me notice the same thing.

Standard e92 rims in gunmetal would set the m4 off right.

Hmm this is funny. Considering you can't even back up the m3 6 inches in my driveway when it snows to make room for the plows.

Seems like BMW is trying so hard to push the Austin Yellow color.

I doubt it will even sell very many units... just like the tastless Phoenix Yellow from previous gens.

Almost every single pic of the M4 is this color.

Would be nice to see them in other (wanted) colors...

Yes, I'm sure it will be hella fun in the snow, on a closed course.. just not as a daily driver through all conditions winter can throw at you.

Back in the day, I was driving my rwd Lexus IS300 through all kinds of winter weather while everyone on the forums was crying about how much it sucked in snow... it wasn't that bad. Same prob applies to M4. However, I would still take the added margin of safety another car could provide any day.
Killjoy: I think you are taking this a little too seriously. Just a fun marketing stunt from BMW. Seems to be working given the discussion. Many like me appreciate seeing this like this. There isn't a message here that only the M4 can do hoon in the snow.

A little OT but can't resist... I am in my 11th winter in an M3 and seen almost anything you can imagine driving every day and never gotten stuck/spunout/whatever. A RWD drive car with snow tires will never match an AWD car with the same tires, but the primary difference is traction from a stop. No difference when it comes to braking and not a lot when it comes to turning, so don't buy the margin of safety argument.

If you are saying that you shouldn't drive a RWD car with winter tires in the snow (as is the case with the M4 in the OP), then I respectfully disagree with you. There are loads of both RWD and FWD cars driven in much worse conditions where I live. Yes, the crowd that goes up to their cabin in the mountains every weekend usually drives SUV's. But I see nothing against driving a RWD car through the winter, especially with DSC.

And AWD doesn't add safety under braking or cornering. It offers better traction under acceleration and gets you up the hills. It will also usually be better if you should choose to accelerate and turn the steering wheel at the same time (like accelerating in a corner). What AWD does is impose a feeling of safety, as you you have better traction while going up a hill or when accelerating. That is a signal the driver interprets to mean that he has good grip and increases speed. But AWD doesn't give you shorter braking distance or more cornering grip for instance, so if you drive faster because of AWD then... And research has found that many drivers of AWD cars actually do drive faster because of that sense of more safety.

looks great!!! I was wondering what settings you should put the car in to maximize performance in the snow? (EDC, traction control and power settings) What do you guys use?

Not sure about maximum performance, but my car does not have EDC nor MDM DSC mode so I just keep DSC set to "ON" all the time in the snow unless I get stuck in which case I turn if off (and I have gotten stuck a couple times this snowy winter). You get used to not breaking the rear end loose until the right moment to avoid throttle cuts that would leave you under-steering off the road. MDM will probably work much better as far as not cutting throttle so aggressively, so I am glad that is standard on all M3/M4 now (has been for a few years). Power I always keep set to "ON" as well for better DCT response from a stop, so I just leave it on in the winter too since I've become so accustomed to it.

Love the roof and trunk line in the picture on the tilted trailer. It doesn't have the butch fender flares of the M3 but those lines make up for it.

Thanks. We had a bad winter on the east coast, but not as bad as I remember from when I lived in West Branch MI way up on exit 215 of I75!! So I appreciate the input from up your way
