Technically almost nothing, though it is certainly based on similar architecture and design. That said, the DTM has reported that the P66 is a "clean sheet" design and ultimately shares nothing with the S65 (though I do think at least the block is shared but.. hey). I don't have a reference for you, but I remember the redline being cited somehwere around 8800 thereabouts. Not too far off from the stock S65.

I know it's really a superficial thing, but this is kind of depressing that there's no link anymore.

BMW needs to come back to F1 given the 1.6L turbo V6, which could potentially at least have turbo technology links.
P65? What is that? BMWs DTM engines are called P66 this year, last year and the year before that. And it shares nothing in common with the S65 engine. Just the basics of being 4L V8.

The P65 is the engine in M3 and Z4 GT racing cars. Unlike the P66, it is based loosely on the S65.

It's amazing to me how excited people get over LED tail lights. I'm not looking at the tail lights, the guys behind me are! I prefer the look of NON LED tail lights anyway. LED's look weird, like a hornets nest or something. Plus, EVERY car has LED's now. it's not like they are high-end or exclusive anymore. Trash trucks and tractor trailers all have LED tails.

This DTM M4 has nothing in common with series M4.

It's called "M4" because they made it look somewhat like an M4, but it's not like any of the M4 chassis/drivetrain/engine/steering/suspension/... is used in there.

Marketing. Pfff.

True, but it's closer to an actual M4 than a NASCAR "Camry" is to an actual Camry.

I'll be routing for BMW in the DTM as always!

Regardless of what one may say about DTM regulations, too loose of a connection between S65 and P66, racing has and will eventually move to turbos, etc, bottom line is that the N/A high revving cars in both racing and road cars is over...it's the end of an era. The S65 was last of a breed and I'm happy to own a piece of history and while I will no doubt buy the latest and greatest technology at some point, I will likely keep the M3.

No it isn't. DTM is just a lot more technologically advanced. Nothing about the DTM car has to do with the road going M4. It is a spec series like Nascar.

All teams build theirs cars off shared carbon monocoque chassis.

Does this look like a M4, RS5, or C-coupe?

I can't imagine what it would be like to drive an all out race car. What are all those buttons on the wheel for?

What does the "I <3 .." license plate mean? It looks like a snail so I'm assuming turbo, but its a NA engine?

Such Confusion.

That is an ad for Deutsche Post, which is a sponsor/partner of DTM.

It has full LED taillights - I would like them on regular F32 too.

Looks to me like those are standard tail lamp housings with a LED array grafted in.

Lol after two seasons why will ditch M4's motor and go Inline 4 turbo...
Yes. It had nothing to do with the regulations requiring a V8 to participate in DTM.
