No delay in shipping. That is how long it takes on average. It all depends on when you get on a boat, it could be less, or slightly more. However, there is usually an additional 2 week delay, for scheduling PCD.

My original PCD date was exactly two months, after my ED dropoff. I had to reschedule, due to work obligations.

Definitely worth it, and the best way to take delivery stateside. Not only is the day on the track fantastic, but you can build in some additional driving days in the twisties of the Smoky Mountains.

So I'll be heading south to Florida. Is there a recommend route to get the best of the roads?

The are tons of threads on the forum summarizing trips through the Smokies, including Tail of the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherohala Skyway. It may cause you a bit of a detour west and north out of Greenville, but definitely worth it if you're already in the neighborhood! Check out page 4 of the PCD link in my sig below for some more details.

Anyway you look at it, it's going out of your way since the mountains are to the north. The Blue Ridge Parkway is on any list of top 10 road trips in the country (maybe the world on some lists) and its an hour to the north. I plan to make the trip north up to Asheville NC and pick up the southwestern leg of the parkway to its termination point in Cherokee NC and from there take another beautiful drive back up north to catch I-40 back home to Amarillo TX. Certainly its not the fastest route back home but thats the point I grew up near Asheville so I know the Parkway and cannot wait to drive it in my M3.

I kind of feel sorry for my new M3, after a two week ED (Germany, Austria, Swiss alps) and redelivery at PDC with the scenic drive home she isn't going to know what hit her when she see's her new home in flat dusty West Texas

No its a delay in getting a PCD date. Basically the Performance Center wants to be sure the car will be there for pickup. This means they add in additional time to help prevent rescheduling. Also there may be a lot of people getting PCD and that could also push the date back. They can only deliver so many cars a day.

I have never done PCD. I have heard its great, but it does cause an extended wait.

There is also the possibility of having your PCD moved up. My allocation became open on 1/13, and I confirmed my build, with production beginning 1/15 and ending around 1/23.
On 1/20, I confirmed a 3/23 PCD date as the earliest opening they had.

I received an email from my CA on 1/29 that as production and transport were running well, and they had openings, I was able to move it up. I now have 3/4, which was the earliest new date available.

So I will be taking someone with me to PCD. Will they be able to drive the car as well around the track or do they have to sit passenger every time?

Yup, your passenger will get equal driving time on the track and off-road course. PCD is an incredible experience, definitely worth a few extra weeks of waiting. We had a blast picking up my car there last fall!

I believe the delivery port is Charleston, SC.

I can't wait! I'm set for April 29th, I just went into production yesterday so hopefully that gets bumped up.

My CA told me that I could get the car early April, late March if I didn't do the PCD. Almost backed out.

Currently have an estimated completion date of 3/4/15. It went into production on 2.21.15 and looking at others, it seems it should be done late February, early march. There's a ship on 3/8/15 and 3/13/15, that allows hopefully enough time for the car to finish and get on one of those boats. If it does, it should be here mid to late March allowing me to move the PCD date up.

Also, the 800# showed it was in production and the website still showed order documented and an M4 when I ordered an m3. Today I removed the production number and put it in again on the website and it came out with the M3 and showing in production.

Should be a great time!

Do you have to sign up for any of the classes they have or M driving school?

No sign up or additional cost at all. It is the best spent $950 delivery charge! Even accomodation, dinner breakfast and lunch is included.
