Anyone else planning a September Eurodelivery/Oktoberfest?

Sorry mods, meant to post this in the Eurodelivery section...So after much deliberation between the M235i and M3, and a slight derail as I briefly considered a Cayman S I have decided on the M3. If Porsche had competitive lease rates I'd have chosen the Cayman S, that car got into my head like nothing else.

That said. I'm planning a quadruple bucket list trip for September 15. Eurodelivery, M3, Oktoberfest, and drive the Ring. Plan is to arrive in Munich 13 September, take delivery on 14,15, or 16 September. Break in the car in the Alps, the romantic road, side trip to Bruges, Nurburgring, then end the trip in Munich for Oktoberfest.

Finger's crossed that Sakhir Orange comes back for 16, if not maybe YMB??? I'm not a fan of black, white, or gray/silver cars. Manual transmission, cloth seats, 19" 437M wheels, and maybe the executive package. Quoted slightly under ED MSRP by my CA. The northwest is a weird market and generally less room for bargaining than many other parts of the country. Still, with max MSDs and 12k miles/year i'm under $700 month.

Would be awesome to meet up with some other members in September.

Sounds awesome. Planning the same....next year.

Plan on putting the M3 on the ship before Octoberfest. No need for a car! Went there on our honeymoon and itching to get back!

Solid.

Totally agree on the lease deals ... I would likely have gotten the boxster GTS but I just couldn't justify the premium for a smaller car. As I've gotten more connected with the M4 I have zero regrets and the BMW ED experience is fantastic (although tracking a porsche in Leipzig might rival it). I'm beginning to wonder if I can ever justify a Porsche ... and when I see 911s on the road I can't help but feel sorry for the drivers; it's a selfish reaction I'm trying to stop having, but there it is.

Anyway, if you haven't been, I might recommend Ghent over Bruges, but it's likely a matter of religion so enough said there BTW, I'm still dealing with the Belgian Federale Politie from October (there's a reason I know that's what they're called ) .... so heads up about that.

I am planning on going to Oktoberfest this year. If you want to meet up let me know. I was toying with the idea of joining a forum member on an ED (obviously I would pay for my own flight and food).

Purchased tickets today, now I'm committed one way or another. Arriving in Munich 13 September, departing 28 September. Taking Iceland Air with a two day layover in Reykjavik on the way home. Plan to be in Munich on the 14th, 15th, and 26th-28th.

I'm going to do three day in Belgium, I'll split that between Bruges and Ghent.

Wow, what a coincidence BC I am planning for a Sept 15 delivery and will be there from the 13th to the 28th. Hopefully I'll see you at the Welt. My route is much different than yours and I will be dropping the car off at CDG in Paris and flying home from there. Sounds like you planned your delivery date to tour the museum as well. I'm also planning on driving on the Ring after visiting Salzburg, Lake Como, Innsbruck, and passing thru Zurich.

BTW, I'll consider SO if it comes back but depends on if they offer up a new color. If not then I'll probably just pony up for LSB BC I just love that blue. YMB is just too light and powdery for me. It would be a great color if the car was for my wife...lol

We'll have to keep in touch between now and then. It would be great to meet up in Munich. I'm still torn on the colors. I think the light colors show off the curves better, but I don't want white. Grey looks good, but it's just so common. I hope they offer a darker Blue for 16, interlagos, or LeMans would be nice.

What kind of prices did you get for round trip?

I'm flying from Seattle, the cheapest I found were about $1100. I wound up paying about $1400 for better flights.

Yeah, for sure.

BTW, you already booked flights without an approved delivery date? I didn't want to book flights until BMW confirms the delivery date but I suppose that doesn't really matter since I was planning on coming in on Sunday, poking around Munich Monday, taking delivery on Tuesday.

I've put my deposit down on a '16 with a gentlemans agreement for ED Invoice +1500 and no extra fees on the lease. I'm guessing you probably have a similar agreement as well?

I spoke with my CA about the ticket issue before buying. He can't guarantee the exact day for delivery, but he said he can nail down monday or tuesday. I arrive in Munich sunday at 4:30pm. Regardless of delivery date i'll head out of munich on Wednesday en route to Salzburg.

I've purchased two cars from my CA. He's been at the dealership for about 12 years, done lots of EDs, retired Air Force (i'm active air force). It's good having a salesman you can trust. I'll put $1000 deposit down in May and probably settle on a color at that time. No extra fee's. I didn't get quite as good a deal. Not sure where you're from, but it seems like in the Pacific Northwest, BMW dealerships don't offer as good of deals as many other parts of the country. But i'm happy with my deal which is about $1500 below ED MSRP (I think thats about $2500 over ED invoice).

Wow, my first destination is Salzburg and then down to Lake Como. After that back up thru Switzerland to get to the Nurburgring. Sounds like we may be able to caravan for some parts of the trip. Hit me up on PM as the time nears and we can coordinate more and can swap notes on hotels, roads, etc.

Wow, September seems to be a popular time to do ED! I, too, am hoping to plan an ED trip for late September/early October. Probably not the same dates as the rest of you all, so I'll miss out on the party.

I'm toying with an early September ED, ending just after the 15th, to take part in some of the Oktoberfest shenanigans.

I'll be in Berlin most of the time, as I'm from there, but plan a "circuit" tour of Germany with the M3 to give it a proper break-in (Schwarzwald, the Ring, maybe a stop in Amsterdam on the way back up and over to Berlin, then hit plenty of unlimited Autobahn on the final drive back to Munich).

It all depends on allocation and my build. I'm still waiting to hear on cost and options for the '16 MY.

I just put down a deposit for my dealerships first 2016 build for a BSM Convertible M4.

We've bought our plane tickets (60k Delta points each) and booked most of our hotels/air bnb stops. We're planners and can't fathom leaving our bookings to only a 3 month lead time.

We're really hoping to take delivery on Sep 18th (day before Oktoberfest kick off) but can also accommodate Sep 19th and 21st depending on availability.

Our itinerary is pretty extensive

9/12 Arrive in London
9/15 Paris
9/18 Munich
9/21 Venice
9/23 Monaco
9/25 Avignon
9/28 Fly out of Nice

Maybe I'll see some of you there.

Whoah this is awesome ! I didn't realize people are already planning for Sept (other than me). I don't have anything confirmed yet, but thats exactly when I would be doing ED also !
That would be great to meet up with some people off the forum for ED ! I've been to Munich now several times so I have my favorite beer/sausage houses, etc.

When my dates and everything are confirmed I will post everything up in this thread.

Off the top of my head, I would be going from Munich, through the Alps and over to Monaco. Then hitting southern France, possible the "culinary Mecca" of northern Spain (El Bulli shrine, etc) I have zero interest in Italy with my car.

This could have the makings of one of those epic Bimmerpost group deliveries.

My planned itinerary is as follows:

9/13 Munich (Take delivery 14th or 15th)
9/15 Salzburg (2 nights)
9/17 Mittenwald
9/18 Rothenburg (2 nights)
9/20 Heidelberg
9/21 Ghent
9/22 Bruges (2 nights)
9/24 Nurburgring (hope to drive the ring Friday afternoon, back-up plan Saturday afternoon)
9/25 Wurzburg
9/26 Munich (2 nights of Oktoberfest)
9/28 (2 nights in Reykjavik on the way back to Seattle)

I tried to plan the driving so that it was no more than two to two and a half hours between locations. The only real exception is from Heidelberg to Ghent, then from Bruges back to the Ring. Should hit the break in period between Bruges and Nurburgring, and maybe get the 1200 mile service in Cologne or Frankfurt...haven't quite figured the logistics of that piece out.

If anyone has suggestions or comments about the planned itinerary please speak up or feel free to PM me. And really hope to see a few of you in Munich in September.

Damn. You guys are way ahead of the game. Count me in for September as well but I haven't booked anything yet. I think BMW recommends not booking before getting the dates from them. It will nice to get some tips on hotels, routes etc. My tentative plan is as follows, of course without dates:

Planning a 2 week trip:

Munich
Salzburg (Austria)
Lake Como (Italy)
Some more towns in Italy but mainly staying north.
Monaco
Northern Spain
Drive through France on way to Switzerland
Passes in Switzerland, alps
Back to Munich

Are you flying between London, Paris and Munich or taking the train? How can you narrow down sep 18th for pickup? Doesn't BMW decide the date out of the three you pick?
