hey GOLFFR:
I'm hoping you or others can answer this question: what's the benefit of financing with bmw (~3.5% interest on the low end) versus other banks with way lower interest rates (~1.9%)? Are there hidden incentives |

This is the deal I'm getting after an initial conversation about why I'm paying both msrp on the M3 and a markup in money factor. I'm ready to walk from this dealer, but just wanted to see if people are getting similar numbers. The 10.5 out of pocket is 7 Msds plus 3850 in startups (seems like miscellaneous fees for profit) including first month payment.

umm
two questions 1) is that a 29000 trade in on a 335is? that seems like a horrible price 2) what is up with the 3000 dollars in extra fees? seems like BS to me

Yes that's the amount they offered for my trade. It's a 2011 335is with 40k miles. He said since he had to forecast the trade into mid June he couldn't do any better.
The finance manager said the 3850 included first month, doc fees, tag title, and miscellaneous state taxes. Oh and the 1800 in negative equity. |

Yea, I believe so too. The first quote was worse than the one I posted. I don't need to be the first to get a F80. I will wait until some hype dies down and when it can be purchased without markups.

My CPA and I had a conversation the other day and he manages a lot of top tier Silicon Exec clients around the bay area too. I asked him why would anyone lease a car vs. buy, is there a secret to the tax advantage and he just shook his head. There is no conceivable reason why someone would lease since they always lose out money wise. You have no equity and the stupid limit on mileage is crazy!
No wonder dealers push the lease over a purchase

^^Lease vs finance is always going to cause a little debate however there are pros and cons to each. For some leases make more sense then financing and for others the opposite. Everyone has their reasons for doing what they do.
As a dealer we don't push either or. Some dealers mark up MF and fees yes however we don't and not all dealers do either.

So I just spoke to my dealership again and I'm really tempted to go for an M4. My deal is $2500 off MSRP with no hidden BS fees. Money factor isn't marked up if I should choose to lease nor is the bank fee. No other hidden fees...I've leased from them before and they are a quality dealer.
I really haven't seen anything close to $2500 off MSRP. I did create a new thread about this but would love to get some input from you guys that have been at this longer than I have. My dealer is JMK BMW in Springfield, NJ. I did just lease an M5 and a couple other cars from them but my sales rep, Lucas, did mention they would be able to hook up a few of my friends with the same $2500 discount as some of my local buddies are dumping their E9x for them. If anyone's interested his email is Lucas@jmkbmw.com. Just tell him Nik sent ya! Not sure how many of these he can do at this price but it's worth a shot. I can understand a dealer selling at MSRP but above kind of pisses me off. I see the comments above regarding lease vs. buy and I think it really depends on the car. My m5 made sense to lease as BMW gave it a 61% residual and $13k off MSRP. However on the new M3/4 buying is usually more attractive in the beginning as BMW keeps the residual a bit low for the first year or so. Of course one could always just lease and then after 3 years if their buyout price is better than market value buy it out! If not, well you don't have to worry about selling the car.

I used to live in So. Fla myself. When I didn't want to do the long drive from NJ to FL or reverse, I would use the Amtrak Auto train that goes between Washington D.C. and Orlando. Or what about shipping the cars? With $2500 off there's definitely some room there if your FL deal is no good. I never had a positive experience at any of the South FL east coast BMW dealers myself.

Buying preowned is really the smartest thing to do financially. On a new car it's a toss up depending on the deal available. Anyway just my friendly .02 off topic
