Technically almost nothing, though it is certainly based on similar architecture and design. That said, the DTM has reported that the P66 is a "clean sheet" design and ultimately shares nothing with the S65 (though I do think at least the block is shared but.. hey). I don't have a reference for you, but I remember the redline being cited somehwere around 8800 thereabouts. Not too far off from the stock S65.

The P65 is the engine in M3 and Z4 GT racing cars. Unlike the P66, it is based loosely on the S65.

It's amazing to me how excited people get over LED tail lights. I'm not looking at the tail lights, the guys behind me are! I prefer the look of NON LED tail lights anyway. LED's look weird, like a hornets nest or something. Plus, EVERY car has LED's now. it's not like they are high-end or exclusive anymore. Trash trucks and tractor trailers all have LED tails. |

This DTM M4 has nothing in common with series M4.
It's called "M4" because they made it look somewhat like an M4, but it's not like any of the M4 chassis/drivetrain/engine/steering/suspension/... is used in there. Marketing. Pfff. |

Regardless of what one may say about DTM regulations, too loose of a connection between S65 and P66, racing has and will eventually move to turbos, etc, bottom line is that the N/A high revving cars in both racing and road cars is over...it's the end of an era. The S65 was last of a breed and I'm happy to own a piece of history and while I will no doubt buy the latest and greatest technology at some point, I will likely keep the M3.

All teams build theirs cars off shared carbon monocoque chassis. Does this look like a M4, RS5, or C-coupe? |

I can't imagine what it would be like to drive an all out race car. What are all those buttons on the wheel for?
