911s are mostly driven by grandpas anyway. Every time I see one on the road there is a geriatric behind the wheel
Lol, need to separate self worth/esteem from brand/type of car you drive. Then it would also not matter who you think owns or drives certain cars and not allow such perceptions, whether real or imagined, dictate preference versus the merits of the vehicle.

Do GTI guys cross ship M or cross shop them? M and 911 guys do. You
My perceptions are real. I live in the NY area and see plenty of 911s. It's rare for a dude to be under 60y/o behind the wheel.

I'm just messing around and really don't give it shit if you and the enterprise come here to berate the F8xs. If your not a fan then move on to rennlist with other like minded enthusiasts. Why continue to come here?

I always thought the end game for me was a 911. Guess what it's not. After driving numerous models over the years I came to the conclusion that they are great cars but overrated and not worth the premium that Porsche charges. That and I'm in my early 40s

We wouldn’t know, we aren’t spending our time on their forum.

A 997.2 is a great “nostalgic” car to own for a weekend thrashing. It is not a good daily driver to take kids to basketball or swim practice, or to endure the terrible city streets and congestion in.

I can definitely afford one and chose not to have it. I’d much rather drive the F80, and not just daily but on track as well. It’s just too slow, expensive to run and fix.

The M3 may feel like that only if you can afford a 2, 3 or 4 expensive car garage as a substitute. If you can’t, then it is a great do it all, and it’s not as big a compromise as you make it. Naturally, if you have the aforementioned substitute garage you can then live your e-life on a bimmer forum and take every opportunity to insult/criticize the product and belittle their owners choice.

I wonder if there is a GTI or some other forum where I could go and crush them with my superior car choices. After all a GTI feels like a compromise car built from a modest economy hatchback platform. M3’s don’t and never will.
I re read his post and seems like all he is saying is he would rather drive an Aston or 997.2 than an m3.

Makes sense to me, I would take those over an M3 also.

Hopefully he isn't a 13 yr old kid trolling us

Well, I still have the F80 . . . waiting to see if lease assumption approved.

I put 12k miles on a 997.2 cab I picked up for the wife in May 2017 and sold in March. The car was an excellent daily driver and more comfortable than my F80 ZCP. I made almost $1,500 on it when I sold it even after putting 22k miles on it.

997.2s are incredibly reliable. Too slow? Feels as quick to me. Doesn’t the 997.2 S run sub 4.0 0-60 and around 12.3/.4 1/4? What does the F80 run and can you really feel a seat of the pants difference in .1 or .2 seconds?

I wish I was 13. Time goes by too fast.

Yep, that is what I was saying. I said the M3 is great if you need 4 doors and big back seat.

Yup in my area also.

Stands to reason, they are the demographic that can afford them. Younger guys who have the salary have children and are dealing with all that comes with that, paying down mortgages, taking vacations, building up a life. When you round the corner at 60 all those expenses are gone and you have the money to throw at a 911, but by then you diddle along in the slow lane with it. lol The irony.

Corvette owners also.

NorCal seems like a bubble in that there are a lot of younger people with $$ to throw around.

as for the older guys in fancy cars, I think I again have a skewed perception since I've met many with former competition experience who are doing DEs and club racing as a hobby now

Z06 or RS driven by someone who has a lot of years of seat time is great to watch, so I don't get the "old geezer" stereo type at all
