trunk light stays on?
I went in the garage yesterday, trunk open, trunk light on. I have no idea how long the trunk was open but I am pretty sure it was longer than 15 minutes. I would think the light would go off after a certain amount of time, just like the radio shuts off after a certain amount of time when car is not running. Is this a coding issue? I do not want to get a dead battery because of a trunk light.

It does goes off tho I can recall after how long. I had to air out my trunk last year and left it open over night. I recall checking before I went to bed and at this point the trunk had been open for 3-4 hours and the light was off.

^^^ What he said. I first noticed this on my wife's '11 335is Coupe. I had run errands and had stuff in the trunk, so I popped the trunk after pulling into the garage. I noticed my neighbors out in front, so I went out and chatted with them for awhile. When I went back to my garage, the trunk light was off.
My M4 has the same behavior. I just tested it by opening the trunk, setting a timer for 10 minutes and then checking it. The trunk light was still on. I set the timer for 5 more minutes, checked it, and it was off.
