Look like SOP MY 2018 starts in March 2017 per internal email memo.

Thank you for posting this.

What had been gleaned from forum members who've seen previous dealership communications is that the M3 and all 4 Series would not start MY2018 until July.

By contrast, according to the new memo you've posted, the M3 and 440i GC models will start MY2018 in March as one would expect, with no delay following the end of MY2017.

If this new information is indeed accurate then, by process of elimination, only the M4, all 4 Series coupe and convertible, and the 430i GC would experience the delay and start at the later date.

Can you verify that this picture was taken from a BMW NA computer system?

Technically it was taken from a dealership computer, not BMW NA system..but the msg was from BMW NA.

Talked with my CA again today. He still keeps telling me I should be ok for a June ED. I think it's smoke and mirrors but who knows. He said he talked to individual to confirm.

I'll make a note of this information in the OP.

I'm not sure I understand this. So I have a week 4 build for a '17 M3. Does this mean its going to be a 2018 build now? or will they be producing 2017 and 2018 models in January?

EDIT: Or perhaps this means the last 2017 will be built in Feb and the first 2018's built starting in March? not sure how I feel about that. Since my build would be at the very end of the 2017 run, doesnt that immediately devalue it?

It says ordering for MY2018 starts in January.
MY2018 production does not start until March.

Since your will be built in week four, and week four is in January, it is an MY2017.

I'm really confused. Does this message quoted appear to affect any 4 series coupes or just orders that contain an "Individual" exterior (ie. color) or interior (ie. Merino leather) option?

If all, does this look like a new order for 440i coupe would be delayed until January, March or July?

Thanks!

Which "message quoted" do you mean? Are you referring to the screenshot posted by Zermatt?

If so, as it says, the memo covers only the M3, 440i GC, 6 Series, and 7 Series. No new information has come to light regarding the 4 Series coupe.

If earlier information is still applicable (and I don't have any indication at this point that it isn't) then production start of MY2018 for a 440i coupe is July 2017. I'm not sure at this point when ordering would begin. It could be any time from January 23rd all the way up until sometime in May I suppose.

I guess I should not have been in such a rush to get a '17 ordered. I needed a new car prior to June and didnt want to miss on getting an M3 if there was a build gap. Now I end up with near the end of the build of 17's with 18's right around the corner.

Does this mean that there won't be any MY17 allocation after January?

Some of the details posted in the forum related to this whole thing are speculation.

Unfortunately, sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between fact and an educated guess. Especially when predictions sometimes turn out to be correct.

Maybe you can give up your allocation and get a 2018 if it bothers you enough.

How true can this email be? I really want an individual color but my dealer says it's highly unlikely and my February allocation will be pushed. I'm fine with March production as well just don't want to do July.

That's a screenshot from BMW's internal order/messaging system. It is extremely probable that Individual ordering is closed for MY2017 M3's at this time.

If you'd like to wait for a MY2018, ask your CA to resubmit the order in January to Individual for approval.

The next round of allocations should be for MY2018 cars. It's possible allocations won't be released until Feb. for March-May production slots.
