Not if you ask the late model e9X crowd which is the point! I cant tell you how many events/car shows I have attended over the last few months and in forums since January when these folks are just in pure denial how its impossible for a 6 cylinder to be better than a v-8. All I would say is look the E9X was and still is an amazing car, just enjoy the hell out of it until you are ready for your next move. I have nothing but respect for every M Generation and what they each introduced to M Fans. Im just happy that we will have multiple reviews to calm the waters and move on.

Based on this review, not only did they not screw up the handling and steering like we feared they might, it sounds like they took it to the next level - a level that would not have been achievable with the now quaint hydraulic system. It also sounds like they were able to combine all the high revving goodness of the V8, with the punch of a virtually lag-free turbo 6.

I've got a production number and a confirmed ED date. Life is good.

Well my review will be late, but we will be hitting up Nurburgring on our ED in September. Another click off of the bucket list.

Agreed. Review was short on actual impressions.

But positive nonetheless.

Every review I've read, motor trend, car and driver etc, claims the steering is numb and lacking feel. Don't know what to believe at this point until I drive one myself.

But their bottom line, "There are few better steering racks overall on the market." - Car & Driver

"Equally smooth, is the change in rack gearing as you move the steering from the straight ahead to the lockstops. It’s way more subtle than in something like a 3-series sedan with optional sport steering, which feels plain odd on the track. This is actually the first time BMW has fitted an electric rack to an M3, but you’d never know it, so convincing are the sensations. We enjoyed it best in Sport, rather than over-weighty Sport Plus, or one-finger Comfort, and mated to the sharpest of the three engine maps. As with the M5, you can save your favorite settings and call them up by pressing one of two buttons on the steering wheel." - Road & Track

Perhaps on the NEW car market, compared to other EPS systems.

This is Nice to hear for the new M3/M4.

One thing that jumped out at me, and most here will not give 2 hoots is the part were it says " The rear subframe is bolted directly onto the body".
We all have seen the "spirited accidents" post over the years.
Driver shuts off the DSC and spins the car in to a curb or other object(s)
This car will Guarantee you a total loss even on minor accidents. Insurance companies will catch on quickly.

Be safe everyone!

I'm switching to manual tranny.
My fav reviews are the Irish & the German ones.
In general I am a bit surprised by how generic and numb the reviews are; disappointing in their lack of relevant new information, mostly parroting the previously released sound bites from BMW. Zippo from on-road driving about one of the most fascinating regions of the world.

Everyone rushing to have a review out, mainly pre-typed with about 15 minutes of actual observation writing written in. Total crap.
