I think my next set of wheels should be RS.
Funny you mention that. My plan is to almost identically copy this car when I get an F80:

The color, the chrome kidneys, the black trunk spoiler and leaving the amber sides on. For wheels, I was considering BBS LM-R's or HRE Classics 300, but those aren't exactly what I call cheap. Would also certainly interesting what RS' look like.

Maybe these ZCP wheels will do.

On the E46, Interlagaos Blue was only available with the ZCP package. My guess is that on the F8X, they will offer some exclusive frozen color.

Ah, I stand corrected. If I'm not mistaken, they went away from that on the E9x right?

No need for a response like that, seriously. Get over yourself.

Yes.

On the E90 they had the special editions, but you could get a ZCP in any color.

They like to vary things around a bit sometime, play the odds. I think the popularity of the Individual orders on the F8x really took them by surprise, so they might do something special with the ZCP, color wise.

Or I could be completely wrong.

I really wish they have a proper blue for this car. Love to see them bring out Interlagos blue or San Marino Blue with the comp pack.

This would be ideal. I almost wouldn't care what was in the comp pack if those blues were available.

A true red would also be much appreciated (especially Imola)

Would be interesting to see those. I don't think I recall seeing anything like that back in the day.

For sure the recessed spokes make all the difference in the aesthetic department.

BBS RC, CH-Robert and RX-R to start, although all of them are not your "traditional mesh" wheel, but still offer that "wire wheel" look. Not from back in the day, but derived from.

They're are other similar types that have a very small lip that work as well.

Ok, yeah those aren't star-spoke nor mesh, really. And they are also a modern design. I must have misinterpreted you - I thought you were saying that their were non-concave, star-spoke wheels from the 70s/80s era that were flush with outside of the tire. I don't think there are - can't recall seeing anything like that.

There may be some in the link I shared about the old catalogs... and there are some BBS wheel whore threads floating around Vortex with what you're looking for.

Most are flat faces with no concavity... the lips make it seem like it. The RZ, and RJ wheels are close to what you're looking for.

From what I can tell, these new wheels do have some concavity, but it's just not shown well and the orange throws it off. Guess we'll have to see more pics.

I'll have a look later, thanks.

The flat spokes look good when they are recessed, especially if the lip is wider and has some cavity itself.

As far as I can tell, the spokes are flat against the outside of the wheel except near the hub area.

You can see the wheels in non-orange if you refer back to the OP.

I'm sure the design of the wheels is the lightest star-spoke arrangement they could come up with. It's too bad that it really does a number on the looks.

A meaty tire might do wonder for those wheels. The tires in the OP are pretty damn small. I guess that's the price of 19/20s.

I approve of your decision.

BBS does not make LM & LM-R rims in F80-specific fitment. There have been a cars with them, but they were all custom. This one has 19" LM's and they look the tits. Love them. I think they'd look great against the chrome kidneys and Signal Green paint.

CH-R II are the closest to the old school BBS rims on the F8x and sadly they only have them in 21".

Yah, needs a higher tire profile...

The ZCP 666 M's are pretty similar to BBS RX-R wheels, aren't they? Also the Gallardo LP 560 had basically the same design.

I thought the RX-R was very similar... I didn't read much into it until now.

Yup, that's exactly the car I had in mind, as well as the other MGM Coupe that's running 20" Amuse LMR. But to be honest, that's a very distant future from now. Most likely I'd end up buying used because I have no desire to drop 10% of the price of the car on wheels.

But you can kind of see my vision so that's good. It'll definitely be interesting to see a ZCP setup with a mild drop and maybe some spacers up front. It'll be about as close to that SG 2002 from factory as possible

Good post.

I am not a fan of those either. However, for me the fact that the spokes don't close up to form triangles with their outer vertex right on the edge of the wheel (so, not really a star, strictly, one could say) does at least help. That pointy design of the 666M makes the wheel look brittle or flimsy (even though it isn't of course). But either way, they are still really missing the concavity or at least a more recessed design.

Different strokes for different folks.
