1200 mile service done, but Launch Control still inactive

I was losing my mind trying to make launch control work in S3 auto mode thinking that would make the most sense. But to my surprise trans must be in S3 manual mode and it worked.
It doesn't say this in the manual and why it wouldn't work in auto mode is strange as in mind auto mode should be faster.
