Seat Emblem Replacement
I read the DIY on how to replace the lighted seat emblem, but I keep running into the issue. How do you remove the first section of retainer lip from the leather seat cover? I can't seem to get a finger in the bottom to pop it out of the seat groove. I asked before if someone could make a small video to show the proper method to pop it out of the seat groove, but no response. I already bought the emblems, but I really don't want to bring to the dealer because I'm going to waste vacation days; it's cheaper for me to do it myself than waste two days of work Can anybody help me? I already purchased the emblems and have them on-hand.

Might help if you post a link to the DIY (step #) and a picture indicating where/what you are asking about.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1472579 Look at step #2, where it says to remove the leather seat cover. I can't seem to get a finger in to start the removal process. Anybody?

And when your warranty is done? Then what does a person do? Hence the DIY!

I would really appreciate the video help I really would like to take care of this soon. My base warranty expires in August 2018, but I'm not sure if the CPO warranty covers the seat emblems The CPO warranty has a lot of restrictions. It's a joke the CPO warranty, but it looks better for resale, I guess

I live back and forth between NYC and the Poconos, PA. If anybody is interested giving me a hand, I would greatly appreciate it. I have no problem tearing the seat apart, but I just don't want to break the seat backing or rip the leather

Can't you request the dealer replace the item when they have a loaner available? That way you won't have to worry about all of this until this inevitably breaks again.
That's what I did, but they fixed it within a few hours, so I didn't really have the loaner that long. |

Honestly, I don't need the dealer poking around my car looking for shit. I have some stuff done, so let's leave it at that. Besides, the dealer I bought car from is sloppy as hell. I found my wheels overtightened, broke jack support caps, antifreeze wasn't topped off and this was suppose to be a CPO car. After the first oil change, I measured the amount of used oil and found it too be 1/2 quart too much. I found the airdams broken in the front and they refused to replace them. I took care of all these little issues myself Would you honestly trust them to take apart the seats, seriously, No!!

Besides, by the time I drop off my car to get repaired, it's gonna be a bitch because my job is at least 1 1/2 hours away. I work in NYC and most BMW dealers are in NJ. Try driving during rush hour into Manhattan Basically, I will lose a day of work
