I think we actually need 16 modes. That way the car can be configured to your specific environment, enhancing the level of connection to the machine.

Yes, but it's pretty cool. When I posted I was actually thinking more of the Veyron key that puts the car in high speed mode when you're going to be pushing it hard. Not the Hellcat key.

Inconvenient it may be, but it's also badass.

You racist pig. Bmw sells at least 12 of these per year to Russia, finland and to sweden and Norway. We need a Race cold plus plus.

Fix your proposal.

Just to add to what Lups said, not only do I want to see a Race Mode, but I think they should also add:

Color Mode
Age Mode
Ethnicity Mode
Religion Mode
Creed Mode
National Origin Mode
Pregnancy Mode
Sexual Orientation Mode
Gender Identity Mode
Genetic Information Mode
Physical Characteristics Mode
Sex Mode
Marital Status Mode
Disability Mode
Veteran Status Mode

And then, as a community, I truly think we should all agree not to discriminate against anyone on the basis of their settings in those modes.

For example, I would set mine to a bright purple, 66 year old, bisexual Kung Fu priestess robot swordfish from the fourth moon rising of the planet V Orlon Six, who identifies as a giant, she-male, corn stalk serving in the United Federation of anti-rebel, gene-splicing, sea turtle, time pirates, pregnant with my first nano-mechanical Columbian coffee maker. Oh, and I would set my Creed Mode to either Apollo or Scott Stapp, depending on tire size. And God (... or other higher power!) damnit, I'd expect you all to accept it!

I think the car should just quiz you whenever you start it, to poll how you're feeling at that particular moment and to ascertain what the purpose of your trip is for. Then, in a matter of mere seconds, the car selects the modes that are closest to your mood/purpose.

Now say your mood and/or purpose changes, you can hit another little steering wheel button that triggers the I-Drive system to start another poll of your feelings. Then, in another flash of time, the car re-selects the appropriate modes and you're back on your way! /sarc

In all seriousness, the M3/M4 has race modes, BMW is smart enough to allow you to choose what you consider your "race mode" and allows you to save those settings to a M1 or M2 button that takes a millisecond to hit once (or a few more milliseconds to hit twice for DSC off modes).

Aren't the modes already listed on the center console?

D=Daytime mode
N=Night time mode
R=Race mode

Next time you're at a stop light, put it into "Race mode" and floor it when the light turns green. It will be very exciting!

Yes, excellent idea. It should ask you several security questions also, before putting you into these modes. Like "What was the name of your first pet" and "What was your High School mascot"

If there is a race mode, can I request a stock mode too? so all my mod will go back to stock in one button. I think it would be very convenience if there is a cop or need a visit dealership for service.

You're so silly. Women arent allowed in to these cars. It's mentioned on the first page of the manual. Their jeans with the studs avoid the upholstery warranty.pregnant women are mentioned especially since the roadside assistance is too slow to pick them all up from the oil cooler explosion sites.

I read that and for the last few hours I've had the idiotic song playing in my head. Totally ruins my wild babysitting night.

There should be a race mode and/or track mode.

They do always say that M is "barely" street legal and born on the track, so there should be an all out mode. Should be more aggressive than mdm and suspension should be stiff as iron. Make it feel as raw as possible

If nothing else you can brag about it

Just get IND to make a button mod. Take off the M2 make it say "R", "Race" or "Track" and then you have it. Program it to the most extreme settings and voila. That's all a race button would do anyway.

Seems like people have been on the internet reading too many articles or watching too many videos where someone says press"this" button and you're in Race Mode... oooh aaah.
Lots of those reviews I also read where they wish they could adjust xyz because xyz....steering for example too stiff or suspension too jarring but they can't adjust anything on the Race button. Such fail.

BMW got it right. The only thing I don't like is the start up settings that default to the same thing everytime.

So many people already cannot handle a F80/F82 on regular roads why go even further lol.

Do we have to pull the, "SO M4 Cars and Coffee" card again?

Pretty good responses after the whole weekend

What I was thinking is similar to the Ferrari type of race button or switch.

http://images.cdn.autocar.co.uk/site...?itok=mRv3JqiS

Current cars do have those modes, but IMO they are still on the softer sides and not exclusive enough to the M cars. Sure some cannot even handle the current settings (look at those reviews lol), but we should be offered a hardcore and "go in rawwww" setting for those who wanted it and for those who can handle such rawness of the car.
