@ciaranob , as I mentioned somewhere else, if you are concerned get ISTA/D and run the various procedures I documented above. Since then my battery has been running normal.

I sometimes wonder if things like an iPod plugged into the USB, or a cigarette-lighter USB charging plug, act as constant drains whenever the car is off. Maybe it's time to start putting those plastic cigarette plug covers back in...

Or you get those booster packs, just like the tech from BMW road side assistance keep with them and used on my car to wake the battery. Aside from that, have no clue how you can get in the trunk, maybe you have to take apart the interior. GL. |

But I think ordinary booster pack can wake up the battery too, but probably a bit rough. As to your ordeal, imagine if you couldnt open you door because you removed the keyhole I think there was a thread somewhere here with a situation like that! |

I jus came back from 3 days away to find my car in a heavy discharged state. It's a week old!!! Well, after wondering what the hell was going on, it started fine, but it seems I had left the OBD2 wireless sensor plugged in. I guess these things use power even if the car is off and in sleep mode. Good lesson.
Now I want to charge my battery but I guess my Deltran Battery Tender won't work?? I'm looking at the Optimate as suggested by aboulfad . Can I leave that charger plugged on the car all winter? I used to do that with my Battery Tender on my E90, as I store the car a little ways from my house in the winter. I'm looking for a charger/monitor that will be able to remain plugged in for long periods and not harm the battery. Is the Optimate capable of doing that? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00Y38X7WI/...E5K2NMMVC&th=1

Sorry dont know all models, check for LifePO4, battery rating > 80Ah, and charge current 3-5A. Read the manual of the known widely used lifepo4 chargers and compare. That is a CT model, and no harm in spending $150-$200 on a charger like CTEK or Optimate for a $100K CDN car...

I would spend double and buy a specialized model for LiFePO4, that one says "including", so right there i loose trust. Also check if it has a mode for detecting 0V or very low voltage which may happen if your battery ever dies, it has an internal switch that disconnects it, and then most chargers will not charge as they see no load.

2018 M3 and noticed that with engine off and auxiliary on the voltage cycles up to 13.1Volts and then about 12 seconds later it goes down to 12.1Volts, then up again, then down again. I have never seen this before and I do constantly monitor my voltage (radar detector has voltage display). Never seen it do this before... Car is a 2018 and Battery is less than one year old. No DTC codes.... What can I do to troubleshoot this as I’m pretty sure it’s not normal ....

First, you need to measure the Ubatt with a trusty multimeter and toss aside your radar reading. If indeed your Ubatt is fluctuating, the car would most likely store a fault. To read proper faults, you need ISTA+.
