2017 iDrive concern

I just took delivery of my 2017 M3. I notice the screen for new iDrive 2017 version is much dimmer than my 2016 3 series. It is noticeably harder to read as it is so dim. It's not the adjustments as I have turned all brightness to max and it is still too dim. I have had many BMWs and never had this issue. This is my first time with the new iDrive version. The dealer service team say it is operating fine, but even the salesperson agrees something is wrong.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks

A picture of what you're describing would do wonders... I have had no issues with my screen (2017 M3 ZCP)

It appears others are having the same issue. It is due to the auto dim feature. The older version iDrive used to have a brightness adjustment, now it is only nighttime brightness. See below

I really haven't experienced any issues and I have 3 BMWs so I should be able to tell.
Would you elaborate on this... Maybe I do have it but not as sensitive to it as you

See my note above with added picture. I traded a 2015 335 and instantly noticed my M3 display was much dimmer than my 3. When I went to adjust the brightness, I noticed the menu was different. See above. It appears that with the new version I have there is an auto dim feature for daylight. So in bright sun it is fine, but as soon as I go under a cloud it dims. The dimming is too much and I find the screen too dim. Never happened with my 3.

No I think I'll be just fine. I'll have to pay more attention and see if this is happening in my car too.
