I would be highly skeptical at this point in a 2016 car with less than 2000 miles on it. Any car needs to be driven. The units with under 200 miles on them have simply not been driven enough to keep them properly lubricated and the rubber soft as it should be. A two year old car with no miles would be a disaster to me. On the other hand, my car still smells new, and is in perfect condition, even with 2000 miles on it.

600 miles in, it's an absurd, awesome, fantastic machine. Would take a horrible track experience to convince me otherwise. Based upon what I've felt on the street so far, don't think that's going to happen...

Believe I previously commented somewhere in here that at $70k-$90k it makes sense (before I bought one). I underestimated it.

Honestly, if you're a BMW enthusiast, performance car enthusiast, I don't see how this thing doesn't work for you in the $8Xk range. Drive it in anger on an open back road, then decide. Cause holy shit.

It's seems to be the thing now, but why are so many people obsessed with prices and how much cars are worth? It should be about the car and its capabilities, not sound or nostalgia or "the history", I'm ranting at no one in particular, just everyone who thinks that way.

These things cost a lot of money. Most people have to work for their money.

Nobody wants to lose money. Particularly on a "limited" model like this where a lot of people were speculating on appreciation.

I think that’s the first fault speculating on a car that’s a spin off many other base models. Why would it appreciate BMW’s are mass produced cars, and people gambled on hype. I agree with the other poster buy a car as a consumable to enjoy, and not hope one day it will yield some incremental reward. I’ve owned BMW’s for 19 years, and they all have depreciated like hell but I enjoyed them all except for my M4 which has depreciated the most. I never expected anything less, and it was only the 3rd one I leased out of many good call(: enjoy your cars guys.

As the original thread starter, I continue to believe whatever one of these cars can be had for today is a great deal. I went with the safe bet which was a 15 GT3 and have no regrets. I have owned a GT4 and would not consider it a fair comparison to a GTS unless we are talking strictly track work. Power/torque there is no comparison, a GTS has the legs on a GT4 but weight along with balance, forget it, the GT4 is a serious weapon on track. On the street, a GT4 is just OK. I never had the pleasure of a test drive in a GTS so I will leave that to the current owners to chime in. I am currently set up to go and pick up an M2 comp in September in Munich so I am looking forward to getting back in an M Car (for the wife, against my better judgement). The only car I have thoughts on replacing the GT3 with is a used 570S but honestly don't know if i can truly stomach what might happen with the value of the baby mac in the future. Regardless, I would imagine any on the current GTS owners have themselves a very special M product. I can't say I've ever seen one on the streets which is a shame but I hope owners use these cars. Every opportunity I get I jump in the GT3. Its an event every time I start the thing.....

Here's a pic of my GT3!

Having driven all the cars you mentioned- save the M2 Comp, of course- I can confidently say the 570 is on a complete different level from any of the others. That car is just staggering. I can only imagine how epic the new 600LT is.

i agree and made a similar post earlier - its nice when market dynamics work in your favor for once.

BMW tried to make an M-GT3 and it fell short. but the market punished it for that 'crime' so badly that you can now buy the best all-around performing M car BMW has ever built for the price of a fully loaded F80/82. with nearly the same miles.

i was at my dealer a few months ago and they had a used civic M3 with a wrap, CF aero kit, and MPE. 3000 miles, wanted $85k. i was like - dude.

What is causing prices in the US to come down so much? From what I've seen, a low mileage GTS can be picked up for ~$90K here in the US while prices in Europe are 2x+ that.

All in all, just reached out to my SA to see if they will sell me their showroom GTS.

You should be able to get a good deal. Many things drive values, what will the market bare which has no determination of value, two over supply of cars in the US market. BMW does not have the brand recognition to command 140k for a car in the US because of too many options. Now, they did sell all US cars, but many of them were flippers that got burned so people didn’t see the car on the road to say wow I want that.

Now many on the board love the car rightfully so, but they have many other cars so price wasn’t issue. The M 3/4 brand are close to entry level pricing for fun sports cars ......also it competed with the GT3 MSRP 143k a known track devil. GT3’s are still selling for 135k for a used car with track miles. My regular M4 was 91k worth 45k .......first car I leased in years for that very reason.

Personally, I think BMW has to stop slapping M logo’s on every car as it dilutes the brand, now I get it from a marketing perspective it sells cars ......but it kills resale. I’m a believer buy a car because it’s a consumable, not a 401k. My buddy has a GTS in his garage with 100 miles on it, and wanted to make a profit. Now he owns Ferrari’s too, so he will let it sit forever until the market says its worth more?? Interest rates going up, and a lot of cheap money will go away ......I think the winter will be a buying season for many cars. I waiting on the GT3 bottom to fall out no way will I pay 30k on the mark up which is normal now. Porsche has lost their minds. My guess by December all the flippers will be gone and taking a bath. Good luck .....sorry for the long diatribe.

My dad took his new X3 M40i in to Hendrick BMW Charlotte to have a possible blown speaker checked out, and while he was there, sent me photos of a car they were rolling into the showroom. Turns out it was this one:

Put mine up for sale here: http://www.parkplaceltd.com/used-car...4S9C5XGK578931

Awesome car but I live in the city so don’t get to drive as much as I’d like. Only about 2,600 miles and bunch of those were on a few road trips through the Cascades. It’s amazing out there but not so much on the streets of Seattle with all the potholes and construction.
