I had my MPE without the secondary cats for one day and could not stand it with the valves open. Literally sounded like garbage. Then I went to an exhaust shop and had them make a ghetto active midpipe: Y pipe from the downpipes to a straight 3in pipe and back to a Y connecting to the stock MPE midpipe. Bolt on and only $250. Now it sounds incredible and valves are unplugged

I'll try and take a video soon

tbh the car sounds like garbage from the onset (well especially compared to my rs3 i had before)

ditching cats isn't so much about improving quality of the sound, that just will never happen on this platform, but more so adding some more crack and theatre to the zcp burble and when lifting off loaded throttle when up in hills stringing some corners together

Hi Mate,
Are you saying the Milltek will slide, and fit into the MPE, but just needs to be cut to the correct length ?. Is the milltek the same bore as the standard system, because if it is, then it should fit, because the MPE slides over the standard system, where it is cut.

The mpe midpipe has a widened bore where it slides over the stock secondary cat pipe and is then clamped down, so it should be same with the milltek

I'll be able to confirm next week when I install it

Straight pipe should be less than 300.

honestly man.. dont bother spending all that money on midpipes which delete your secondaries. I got my secondary cats deleted at a muffler shop for $140 canadian.. much better value - wise plus you get to keep your resonator.

just make sure you find a reputable muffler shop. the welds will be top notch.

But we are talking about the MPE here, and the resonator is gone.

I would get a muffler shop to cut them out. My recommendation run a 6-12'' resonator in place of the secondary cats.

I am thinking about having a custom mid pipe set made by either Eurowise or maybe a local speed shop. If I move back to Ca and still have the car then I will need to put them back on to pass emissions...... But then maybe i will never go

So my question is...I have seen negative comments about having this done and making the car sound worse. I have the MPRE which leaves out the resonator but adds a H section. Do you need another cross over farther up on the midpipe or does the H section suffice? If so then all the ned to do is ben some pipes and weld on a mating flange

I had a lot of exhaust work done, including 2 custom exhaust set ups. What made me happy in the end was doing a aa mid pipe and stock muffler. Having a single mid pipe made the most impactful difference to me.

video please and any other info. i want to do the exact same thing, but cant fathom purchasing the AA midpipe and having to cut those as well just to make them fit.

i wish AA or anyone else would make a single midpipe for those with the MPE. I'm not sure if i like the dual pipe approach, especially with the already raspy MPE.

I'll try and get to it this weekend but here's a pic of it during its creation. You can see its way shorter than the active one to be able to pair to the mpe midpipe without cutting

I thought removing only the secondary cats (not primary) would still pass emissions in CA.

It was just what I was told that secondary cats not only fail the visual but most can't pass the sniffer.

So based on what I am reading the ticket is to replace the cats with a 2 into 1 then back to 2 to remove the raspiness? Does it deepen the tone? Now does putting in a single pipe not kill any performance advantages of the dual pipe flow?

Just curious...
