Thanks for posting! For you and any other military serviceman, how does that work with your cars? Do you have special plates? Or are you rocking your US plates when you drive around town/Nordschleife?

I'm not criticising this guy, as I'm far from a ring hero myself..But I just wonder what the point is of doing a review of a car when you need to focus more on staying on the track, than on the car itself...

Most likely the newbie was along for training and wasn't the main/only tester that day.

What power are you putting down? It seems like m4 was pulling away on the straights, or you weren't gunning it?

Thank you for your service and thank you for this vid. I know that it would be hard for me to follow a guy and keep off the throttle, especially on such a long track. (not that i'd even post a 10 min, as ive never been to the ring)

I guess it's that military discipline

Not trying to be a smart ass at all. but he clearly wrote that he chose to follow the bmw to make a vid. M3/4 is a powerful piece of kit, but I don't think its going to pull away from a tuned corvette V8. Zo6 none the less.

plus watching the second video, to me anyway, clearly illustrates how much he was holding back on the chase vid.

Ok,

To answer a few questions.

Im military, stationed in germany. We are allowed to drive US spec cars without conversion, but have to pass a safety inspection. If i were to sell the car to a local, they have to convert it to euro spec and pay all the taxes (29%).

Nurburgring is a very hard track, so 9:20 that he got is a decent time for being first day on the track (they did a few laps prior, and it seems he knows the track a bit i.e. Which way the turns are). To get under 9 u need about 40-50laps, to get close to 8 u need around 100laps.

Tires is a huge factor, and without semi slick it is close to impossible to get under 8 in any car.

As far as me following him, i was just really taking it easy to get this vid

i havent seen one pure vid of m4 on the ring, so i figured itd be fun to share.

God I miss Germany. I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath and spent a good amount of time TDY to Germany. Drove that track a few times, not enough times though. lol! No place on Earth like it!
