Wow, to pull on a tuned C63 like that from a roll is impressive. With the weight of the new cars in reality being not a great deal lighter than the E92 the only explanation I can think of for the performance of these cars is that the motor must be underrated- I know it's got 40% more torque but still.....

I would guess at least 460hp - there is no other explanation as to how these cars are so much faster than the E9x was. An extra 10 or 15hp over E9x would not be producing these results.

Sam how do you think the M4 would do against an f10 bone stock versus bone stock?

2000' isn't that high. Elevation also affects turbo cars, just not as much.

And after seeing what a stock manual f80 does to a 585hp ess sc kit , you can see why I've been saying a bolt on e92 has no shot to be close to an f80

No disrespect to the e90, still a great car.

Wonderful results and thanks for the vids.

Robs about 15 bhp at 2k feet ft per actual moment logging from ecu directly. Not enough to make difference here tho. If kit were really producing 585 bhp, how would that lose? Doesnt make sense to me

Indeed, does not make much sense.

The 585 kits are making more power at full bore, by atleast 100hp if you consider massive underrating by BMW at 485hp.

Even if it loses 85hp each shifts, which I'm pretty sure is an exageration as I dont have a SC dyno sheet handy, it's still making more power than a massively underrated F80.

I would expect such results with a JB piggyback, but stock? The numbers dont add up.

What gives?

Regarding power a lot of folks on here are talking like the f80 must be massively underrated but you are forgetting something so critical:

It's never about peak hp. It's always about total power produced through the gear.

The f80 is producing peak power at every gear change from bottom to top. Comparatively the e90, stock, only glimpses it's peak power and loses a lot at the next gear.

You are seeing the effect of that here. It's not peak power, it's the duration it's putting out that power

I fully agree versus a stock E9X; no competition.

However a well running E9X with a 595 kit is making more power in gear at full bore by atleast 100hp over the F80X.

With similar weight and drag coefficient, something is up. I would expect such results versus a bolt-on F80 which it looks like will produce a conservative 500whp on an average dynojet.

Is this about the e92 gray M3 and the blue F80 m3? If he had a 585 kit maybe what we saw was correct. The gray M3 had a higher trap speed since in the end has more power. It's probably the torque and more time at peak hp that got the f8x it's win in the quarter roll. If there was more space it probably would have eventually passed it but too little too late. Just my 2 cents...it didn't surprise me if I got my facts correct.

The e9x m3 has problems putting that power down. I get that people running 575/595 kits have run mid 11s....but those are their BEST runs and represent heavily modified cars running right under excellent conditions and getting the shifting/tire slip just right.

I'm guessing the guy in that vid had traction problems early on and was going easy on the gear shifts through the first few gears, which is why the F80 was blowing past him yet the ultimate trap speeds show the supercharged e9x catching up.

Let's be clear: The f80 was built for this power and still has problems putting it down. The e9x was not built for that power and has more traction issues as a result....RWD platforms at these power levels are tricksy SOBs to drive hard, even in a straight line.
