Congrats to the forum member that bought the South Bay BMW GTS! I'm glad it went to someone who got tipped off by this thread.

Can't recall, was that a used one or new? What did they pay?

It was a new frozen gray one with CF wheels.

If the buyer wants to chime in on the details, I'll let him/her do that.

I see, I should have gone back through the thread, there's a picture at post #285.

There are also other cars out there that suffered similar depreciation like the new Acura NSX, and I would argue that the NSX is a far superior all around vehicle.
In the meantime, I'll just enjoy the heck out of my M3 ZCP which still feels like a true M car, and maybe within 8 or 9/10 of the GTS with some very light tweaks and sticky Cup 2.
The NSX lost for a very different reason it was advertised for almost 10 years prior to launch, then it offered power that was impressive in 2010/2011 in 2016+ when 550hp doesn't mean anything. Thats 30-60k car territory now lol.

I pulled my buy order on my GTS after getting picked, when it was speculate they were going to produce more than quoted, and they continued to announce more "limited editions".

I will say this car is worth every bit of 90k and aside from the SUVs one of the few bmw's that actually commands 90k+ (was unimpressed with my launch 2015 M4)

If you snagged a used one in the 80s or a new one in the 90s/ low low low 100k mark and drove it. I think you'll have a much better ownership experience than the guys that paid 140k+ that thought they might have had something unique and rare and in 10 years are still liable to be disappointed.

By year 20,30,40 probably will have some collectors value as the shift to energy efficient cars takes a larger grip.

Personally I'd rather have a LOW milage e60 M5, and e92 m3 in my garage as ordainments as I think in 20-40 years LOW LOW milage/ rare colored v10/v8 cars will be lauded over far more than the GTS.

I disagree with your assessment about the NSX. I think it’s power and performance are pretty good for what it is (and way better than the i8 btw). The reason why it doesn’t sell it it’s high price tag (should be $120k car) and it being an Acura. Many reviews actually liked the car.

Garage List
2015 BMW M4  [0.00]
My dealer here in Michigan just listed a '16 GTS with 188 miles for $109k. I looked at it yesterday but I'd seriously put 15k mile a year on it, I don't think it's for me.

They could have justified the price tag in 2009/2010 when that power would have been tops of the market. Doesn't matter when a mustang 6+ years later. But I don't disagree with you it would have sold like hotcakes at 120. But trying to get 200K when the power is so out dated wasn't happening.

If you scored it for low 90s/ mid 90s I'm sure 20-35k miles you could still get 70-80k for it.

Have no idea why anyone in their right mind would spend that kinda money on this car.. since you loose the back seats, you cant even throw out the “4 seat daily” card either.. i mean come on.. new zr1 vette is near that price.. 911 gts isnt that far off either.. you have to be some serious bmw fan to pay the premium on it, and still get left behind by z06s at the track..

I guess I'm not in my right mind. The GTS at around $100k is very, very attractive, to me at least. A relatively low optioned 911 GTS with the performance bits on it is around $130k, if you can find a buildable allocation. I have a Z06 and while it is fast as s**t, I might be ready for a change. I'm not willing to take it 10/10ths on track and so for me it's not that much faster (around the road courses I frequent) than something with 150 less horsepower. Regarding the ZR1 vette, there are very few people that will be able to extract the capabilities of that car and it starts at $120k, so again it's more expensive at the moment than the GTS.

Same here - I'm on my 3rd 911 and some days I have to restrain myself to fight the urge to sell my current 911 for a GTS when I see them at these prices. The one near me with < 300 miles on it is now listed for $94k and I'm sure they'd go lower. Many of us here just really respect what has gone into the car and many just see it as an over priced M. I can appreciate both schools of thought but I am definitely in the former.

This car was often compared with cars that were not in it's league. The 991.1 GT3 is only a tick faster, but good luck finding one under $125k used. (Check out Lightning Lap times) Other reviewers dinged it for being impractical, but the GT3 seldom gets that treatment. The M4 GTS is absolutely a $120k car used, especially if you are tired of your Porsche dealer jerking you around all the time. These discounted cars are a steal.

I'm not sure what competition a track focused car is supposed to have but the M4 didn't seem to live up to its hype. Even an AMG GTs is faster around.Laguna Seca than the M4 GTS and thats a cruiser.

...and I found about 5 GT3s around and under 125k....now thats a steal for sure...I guess they'll keep coming down since the new ones have manual tranny

Oh, come on! The AMG GT is even MORE expensive than the M4 GTS, and it's not just a cruiser. The track focused version of it, the AMG GT-R, is a $190k car. I'm just not going to let people who've never driven one hang around to bash it and drive the value down even more, all while knowing nothing about what they are saying.

I need a 991.1 GT3 with leather interior, half cage, less than 500 miles and still under initial factory warranty for $100k or less. Find me one. Go!

Randy, the M4 GTS values dropped because of people that actually drove them , not the other way around. Maybe one day they will rebound, and if they do it could be because of their so called limited release, but I hope that's not why one would buy one.

To the other person that is looking for a ultra low mile GT3, you probably read between the lines or read what you wanted to read when I made the GT3 comment.

Well no, no reading between the lines. You said a GT3 for $125k was a "steel for sure". I'm simply pointing out that at this time there is no low mileage 991.1 GT3 for $100k with all the bits that are standard on a GTS and as such, the GTS for $100k is the steal for sure.

I'm now convinced you didn't read between the lines, but now that means there's a bigger problem.
