Heated rear seats - seat back or just seat bottom?

I have a stupid question to those of you who have heated rear seats in their F80 M3...Are there heater elements in both the seat and backrest or just the seat?

I ask because I was thinking about adding the elements in the rear for my kids, however, Evan at GetParts.com tells me the part numbers
52208058113, left
52208058114, right

for the backrests aren't showing as valid part numbers.

Any help would be great.

Smile The Kidz will Love Them

OP, I do not have an answer for you, but what I do know is that my two Boyz love, love, love the heated seats. When I first got the car, they would have so much fun turning on the other's seat for them. It was good stuff. During cold days they rave about how nice and comfortable they are with the heated seat. I have never thought to look into, much less ask if the seat back and seat are both heated. Good luck.

If you look at the coding possibilities for seat heating, you can see that you can specify the temp for the seat bottom and the backrest, for the front and back seats.

My seats definitely heat both bottom and back! Like getting a nice hug with the bolsters.

Thanks for your replies

Since I cannot find part numbers that are valid for the backs and the seats are on backorder I am now on the hunt for an F80 that is parting out heated rear seats

Confirmed

Last night the Boyz and I went out and it was cold, so of course they had the seats on. I told them about your post, and as confirmed above, they were both pleased that BMW ensured both the seat bottom and back are heated.

As others have stated, both bottom and back are heated. Wife informed me a couple weekends ago when she was sitting in the back with the heat function on.

What part number do you have for the cable harness (3 and 4) for the left and right rear seats?

They appear grayed out in realoem.com

The part numbers being grayed out are the issue. My understanding is this means back order (with no time line).

No. Grayed out means the part is not applicable (not used) on the selected car model.

Has nothing to do with Backorder status.

It appears grayed out on all F8x and F3x variations.

Clearly a Realoem error.

This is a reply I was given from Evan at GetParts...

the rear backrest elements are not available to order from BMW at this time (at least not here in the US). I’m not sure if it’s a market restriction or they just don’t have them available at this time, but I’ll let you know if I can get any other info on those.

At this point as I stated above my plan is just to keep an eye out for an F80 being parted that came with heated rear seats.

The problem is that part is discontinued.

You will still need the wiring harness from the rear of the car, regardless.
