Really would love to be able to set this. My wife rarely drives the car, but would love to have it setup as efficient and comfort across the board for her by default. I'm happy to hit the M buttons to turn on something more aggressive when I'm driving.
Same issue - wife swears she doesn't want to touch the M but reality is she'll need to drive it at some point - scary as hell as she'll discover she loves it

I did the 2000km oil and diff change and asked the dealer about this. They did not know how to change and have no idea. Anyone here managed to change the default settings?

not in the UK unfortunately it defaults to stop start always on. Need to get that programmed out as its stupid on a car like this.

That would really piss me off if I wouldn't be able to have control over stop/start, probably even more so then piped in artificial eng noise, which is saying ALOT!

Same here, just did my first service and asked for it to be coded, the service guy said it wasn't possible. Which probably means it's not allowed by BMW. Looks like I will have to look elsewhere to get it coded. Start/Stop is simply wrong in a car like this, and I even hate it in the X5.

Default settings?

When I get into the car the its in efficient throttle sport steering and sport suspension. Is there a way to set the defaults (not the M1 and M2) for when you first get in?

Something annoying...

Do you know if it is possible to change the defaut mode "Efficient/Sport/Sport" to "Efficient/Comfort/Comfort"? I don't want to use one of the two "M" mode for that...

Why not? Turn car on, press M1 or M2, drive!

I think I read somewhere that the car doesn't retain previous settings and always defaults to E/S/S

I had the same complaint. Would rather the car just start off in teh softest settings and have teh two M buttons saved for "Sport" and "Sport+".

Im sure it can be programmed later on

Thank you
I hope that there will be an update soon... because I use my 2 M modes for spirited driving...

I noticed the same thing. If you don't want to use the M buttons, you can obviously punch the buttons on the console, but it is an annoyance. The E92 was not like this.

This. On the same topic, the shift timer button thingy defaults to 1 bar when I would prefer it at 2 or 3. Have been looking for a "Profile" to change but can't find one outside M1 or M2.

You turn it on and press the M1 or M2 then you're in the mode you desire.

Yep, 100% sure. The manual confirms it, I believe. Did you have a read through it yet? Probably worthwhile if you have questions like this.

I don't know why we wouldn't be able to have it start in whatever mode we wanted.
Lots of possible reasons. I'll just say that consistency is sometimes best. As someone pointed out above, you can assign your preferences to one of the two M buttons and just hit that button after you start the car. Not a big deal.
