Lol it is quite unfortunate that the superior transmission is not being provided as an option.

I'm with you but I'd be priced out of the market anyway when you combine MSRP and the inevitable B.S. dealer markup; whatever that adds up to, somebody out there will pay it.

I go back to their tag line - "the ultimate driving machine". Not the "Ultimate quickest machine around the track" because they lose that race all the time. Ultimate Driving Machine. Which implies driver enjoyment. Which for me (not everyone) means 6MT.

Not a stupid automatic!

No doubt. But I'm getting a new M3 anyway, and dammit I want those extra 6 or so HP and that pretty badge!

Yeah, I'm not even looking at the M3 CS because of no MT availability. Admittedly, it's more than I want to spend but given the low production and the low miles I'd put on it, I could justify the extra cost with the excuse that my car would hold up reasonably well in resale.

But no MT = no thanks.

Same here. DCT is a total deal-breaker for me - I just don't want one.

Your days of getting a 6MT might be coming to and end... I'm getting one of the last F80s just to hedge my bets. If the next M3 doesn't come with a 6MT - I'm keeping the F80.

Maybe BMW will come out with something like this strange Toyota Automatic Stickshift?

That's why I'm doing ED on an M3 with the family at the end of the school year. Should be towards the end of production.

And if it is the last M3 with a stick, as long as it proves reasonably reliable, I may hang on to it for a while.

Yeah - I'm aiming for October 2018 for my ED... should be one of the last, although being ED will be made a month or so earlier.

Those 9 extra hp over the CP are worth more than what the number suggests:

This is exactly what I'm considering. ED towards the end of production, 6MT. I tend to keep my cars for a good while. Hell, I still have my 05 M3.

Will it hold up in resale though? I'm just not sold that other than marketing nonsense this is much more than a f80 with some after market mods done at the factory in a limited run. I'm sure there are enough badge whores that it probably will ultimately hold some resale advantage over a standard car, but you'd have to baby it and turn it into a garage queen. For what's likely to be $100k for a M3 it's just not worth it IMHO. Oh and no MT so it's a non starter

What a bummer as that will come with a steel shaft. All true M3 come with CF shafts...
