Pictures of the black 666M?

Hi guys I'm planning on ordering the facelift M4 here in South Africa once it becomes available. I currently drive a 2014 BMW M4.

My question is do any of you guys have clear photos of what a 20 inch black competition pack rim looks like?

I'm planning on ordering alpine white-competition pack with sunroof again.

I just don't know whether to go for the standard or black 20" rim when ordering.

Any thoughts

Nope - I won't be. Not yet anyway - I think 18 months I'll put in an order for one of the last 2019 models, and keep that until the G-Series arrive.

I suspect they'll look like this:

(They won't be this wheel exactly since these are the wider GTS version, but the finish may very well be just like this)

Here is what the BMW brochure shows (sounds like the same finish as the black 437M):

I agree. All signs and history point to the 2 tone.

Just replace the grey or orange with black.

As others have noted, all black, especially on the 666m loses the depth perception details that make the wheels special.

I dont think that's how they will look. I believe they will be "two-tone" just like the 437M black ones...

That wheel looks great. I would have to see them in person. The silver M666 wheels have a dimensional look to them in person you can't appreciate in photos. I would be interested to see if that quality remains in the two tone black finish.

Yes, two tone. At least that is what is stated in the BMW Canada product planning bulletin excerpt posted by SakhirM4

But are the ones in the picture I linked to not two-tone? I admit it is totally possible they aren't.

As we had covered in a different thread, my observation with the black 437M is that, depending on lighting, the two different finishes can sometimes look very different, and sometimes look very similar. It seems to be in large part because the finish on the face of the wheel is more reflective than the finish on the side surfaces. Sure, the coloring is also different between the two as well, but what I tend to see is that its the reflectivity of the surface in response to lighting conditions that determines how much contrast you see between the two.

Now, if indeed the DTM Edition wheel really is all covered in one finish, then yeah, my comment is completely off.

Those are very unlikely to be factory black 666M since they are not slated to be available until March production (and for the M3, not until July in the US - not clear where this car is though). He probably had a set of silver 666M powder coated black beforehand and ready to put on the car just before he took delivery.

I have always interpreted the DTM wheels as being "matte black" all over. I could be mistaken though...

EDIT: Found it. According to the press release, the DTM Edition wheels are painted in Orbit Grey Matte

Oups . Since matt is the correct German spelling, it did not pop to me. Fixed my OP, thanks for pointing it out .

The brochure says Jet Black. So I figure the barrels will be gloss black just like the 437Ms...showing brake dust/grime/etc like crazy.

Yes. Same paint scheme as the black 437M is what we will likely see.

I watched the advertisment of the new M4 LCI and tried to stop at the right time to take some screenshots.

If you can wait for some more weeks, I will get my LCI with the black 666 on the 5th of april and will post pics then.

For now see the attached screenshots

Good snap of the wheels! The polished face definitely looks darker than the silver 666M. I currently like the brighter 666M wheel that I have on my car. Very interested to see how these wheels look in person.

Get the current 666's and don't bother washing them - 6 months on, 6 months off from washing and it will appear like you have two different wheels setups!
