Sponsor damaged my M4 GTS wheel
Hoping someone can help me find an equitable resolution to my problem.
A "wheel company" recently showcased my GTS at a show. They elected to ship my factory wheels back for me because they had trouble getting their wheels to me prior to the show. During the handling process, an employee at said wheel company dropped one of my wheels. Long story short, no one can repair the wheel back to 100%. Sadly, it sounds like the employee is going to be held accountable for the damage and not the wheel company per my contact...seems odd to me, but that's what I'm being told. The cost to replace the wheel approx $2k (One wheel!) So what would be an equitable resolution here? I obviously want a new wheel, but $2k for approx $500 in damages sounds excessive. Can someone give me some guidance? |

they owe you a new wheel. period. you were doing them a solid letting them use your car right? they can deal with selling the damaged repaired wheel to someone else and get their own money back, why should that be your problem?

F* That! Push for new wheel. Hold the company accountable. They should have insurance to cover such accidental damages. Its up to them to sort that out between them and their employee. Thats bullshit!

Sun tran can fix it! He's out of Orange County, CA. Google "sun tran wheel repair". He fixed my curbed porsche rim that was 2500 to replace.

If it's an issue matching the orange maybe IND can help you out. IMO you shouldn't even be involved in this process. Their mistake, they need to do the leg work.

Don't settle for anything less than a new wheel! Aren't the GTS wheels made entirely of carbon?? Can't really "repair" that

I wouldn't settle for a repaired wheel because you will always be concerned if it's not to your pre-damage satisfaction. By the way if you ever had an issue with the car because the wheel was bent, and caused handling problems BMW doesn't have to honor any claims caused by the wheel. If a sponsor wants to use a six figure car they need to accept the cost of the repair vs. kill the relationship. My opinion they should have offered to buy a new wheel, and this should have never been debated.

Surely someone binned a GTS already? Can't you negotiate one off of a binned one in a salvage yard? People will bin anything, no matter how new it is because no one can drive!
Not you personally, but someone in general to get you back to "new". There has to be one out there somewhere used in great shape? But to answer your question, for the "sponsor" to pass the buck to the "employee" is pure trash. If they were doing anything on behalf of the shop, they should make you whole. But that's just one man's opinion.

The wheel company needs to step up and replace the wheel. You gave them your car with 100% mint condition wheels and it should be returned to you in the same condition.
I don't agree with passing the cost to the employee. Everyone makes mistakes. |

I agree, Sponsor shouldn't pass the bill to their employee. I can't live with the idea that a warehouse employee would lose his job over this, so I've decided to have the wheel repaired; although I've been advised that it may not be perfect. |

Looks like a shady company with shady labor practices... The "wheel company" screwed up your wheel....they need to replace with a new one. If they cant or wont do that, that would be the last time I do anything for that "wheel company" and all my friends would know about it.
You did them a solid by loaning your car for their marketing efforts. They didn't hold up their end of the bargain, which includes protecting your property. Cheers,

Man, if I could give your post a hug through this screen I would. It's exceedingly rare to see a response like yours in this Atlas Shrugged world we live in. When you get your wheel repaired (immaculately, I hope), I hope you can think back to that employee's life you possibly made better every time you see it.

What bullshit, I think you need to do us all a favor and tell us who this sponsor is so that we can avoid doing business with them. After all this is what the community is about.
