I'd at least give them a full business day to figure it out on their end.

It's not the service advisors fault the techs in the back are the ones who did this. I'm very happy my car is running flawless now and no check engine lights. We just need to get this damage taken care of ,I will never return to that place again for service.

Bring the tech a bottle of wine that'll teach em!

40 miles is not that much, maybe the service guy took it home to test it out. did you specify no miles? i would be polite about it, and ask them to fill in the rock chips. arguing with them will get you nowhere. what do you think they are going to do ? give you a new car? |

It shouldn't matter if it's a 3 series, a F430 or a Bugatti Veyron. If the car goes in for a service there is NO way it should be driven for ~40 miles, regardless of the base price of the car. Even if there was a problem with the car a tech might put 10 miles on it. Anything over that and I would get suspicious and have the shop clarify why so many miles were put on. 40 miles for a scheduled service sounds like someone performed lunch/afternoon errands in a customer car, or took the car home and drove it back to work the next day. I've seen both of those scenarios before. |

My commute to and from work is approximately 40 miles round trip, 25 min door to door each way. Yea, f that, OP has every right to be pissed. If the Kia dealership did this to my Optima, a car I worked my ass off to purchase and a vehicle I took great pride in, yea I would be f'ing livid. |

WOW, LV dealers really are shit. 40 miles of "test driving" is excessive. I guess they decided to break in your car for you...lol JK

The O2 sensors require driving the car in sets of 20 miles or so to fully reset/activate. The driving was probably done to activate/reset drive cycles.....the damage though is another story..

I was having a rev match problem with my '16 M3. I ASKED the service manager to take the car home (a 50 mile round trip) a few night to see if he could replicate the problem. He wouldn't do it.... saying they have a policy never to used cars in for service for ANY personal use.
If a tech wants to road test a car he does so, then goes back to the dealership and takes his OWN car to lunch. |

People treat their own cars like crap most of the time. I would not expect them to give a damn at all about my car. The less people that touch it and for the least amount of time, the better. If that kind of mileage was needed to reset, then the owner should have been notified ahead of time. Especially on a new car with such low mileage. And then the damage on top of it? Interested to see how this turns out. Good luck.

For example, on the E9x M3 there was a diff TSB that required the car to be at operating temp and then be driven in 12 full circles in each direction. How many miles do you think it takes the car to get to operating temp in a colder climate? 5, 10, 15? Rinse and repeat if the the car still isn't within spec after the first attempt.

Ask them to compensate you (in addition to fixing the damage they caused). Maybe an M Perf exhaust or something else substantial.
