Oe GTS hood arrived in Aus

My hood arrived, purchased through my delivering dealer and arrived in a few days via air freight from bmw Germany

Was worried it was going to have the partial frp underside like the M4 CS cars, but so glad to find it's the proper gts full carbon version

Going to be a long couple weeks before my repairer can paint and fit

For those wondering the difference bw CS and GTS hood, pic below shows black frp in the middle indents on CS hoods - I assume this was a running change to lower production costs

went through the exercise of buying from US, shipping and then customs blows price out, not to mention risk of shipping something so large and fragile

cheaper and easier to buy here if you have a good relationship with your local dealer parts department, and dealer wears all the risk of shipping damage if it happens

can't disclose actual price, but it started with a 7

Shipping with DHL is bloody expensive that’s for sure

No worries. Look forward to the pics of it installed. Probably not as much as you are looking forward to it being installed though

Garage List
What does the top look like raw? Same as the bottom.. just wondering if you could leave it unpainted in a sapphire black or mineral grey car?

Top is grey primmer ready for paint (apparently)

There's quite a bit of peel in it from factory, having to fill and sand it a couple times to get the peel to match rest of paint work - standard really with carbon parts

But just depends how fussy you are

This is what the peel would look like if you went straight to paint

Love it Domino, if I had some spare readies I’d definitely do it too.

What about a plastic sheet over the engine when washing?

That's be a mess removing it puddled with soapy water

An absorbent towel is best way to do it
