CCB calipers with iron rotors?
Hey guys is it possible to install the CCB calipers without the carbon rotors? Asking as I love the look of the gold calipers (size) but don?t want the expense of the full system.

Why not just paint it instead?

Yeah why not paint it? My guess is this wont work given that the rotors are also a different size

Check this out:
http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-2pc-Ro...bmw-irk-11.htm I have CCBs on my car and this might be an alternative if one of the disks fails. |

Not really.
I'm not desperate to sell that I need to spam other threads with a link. I posted the link because I've never seen pictures of the RB kit installed on an F80/F82 on this forum and my thread had more pictures of it. Also, this is the only kit that I'm aware of that allows you to do this. Only other conversions I've seen required fabricating your own front caliper brackets. |

If the calipers are from the F8x CCB then its OEM brackets can be used with the OEM F10 M5 front rotors. Two mods are required: the OEM brackets need (2) 2.5mm washers each, and the OEM M5 rotors must be bored to a 79mm hub hole.
If the calipers are from the F10 M5 then a custom bracket must be fabricated to fit the OEM F10 M5 front rotors. The F10 M5 front calipers have no OEM brackets. The rear 4-piston OEM F8x CCB calipers fit PnP to the rear 370mm iron rotors of the non-CCB F8x. No mods required. |

The differences between calipers are the color and about 5mm of material removed from the mounting holes of the F10 M5 calipers (Blue) compared to the F8x Gold calipers. Everything else is the same. |

There is no separate P/N for the Aluminum brackets of the F8x CCB calipers. They only come as a set with the calipers -not sold separately. However, I would advise you to contact forum sponsor Racing Brake and ask if they can sell you their leftovers OEM brackets as they build brake kits with OEM CCB calipers with their own custom brackets discarding the OEM brackets. IMO, OEM brackets are much better for this mod than custom brackets. |

Your painted M5 caliper looks really good. IMO it looks better than the Brembo GT calipers. The large flat surface area makes them appear much bigger too with smooth lines. I'm definitely considering this mod down the road.
Which rotors did you go with? Modified M5 rotors or the ones from RB? |

thread resurrection
So let me see if I understand this correctly If I have OEM BMW CCBs on an F8X, what I need to do a steel BMW-rotor change is: FRONT: If the calipers are from the F8x CCB then its OEM brackets can be used with the OEM F10 M5 front rotors. Two mods are required: the OEM brackets need (2) 2.5mm washers each, and the OEM M5 rotors must be bored to a 79mm hub hole. REAR F8X OEM steel rear rotor |

You need the M2 Competition rotors, front and back, iron rotors pads, the iron rotors brake booster and coding.
No posting yet of how the CCB rotors booster would work with iron rotors. Quote:
