What I did to get an M4 at 23

Good attitude and philosophy, but getting a M4 at that age.. Jesus... You should have seen the shitboxes I was driving around in at 24. Money just didn't flow like it does nowadays (credit, and the desire to spend didn't exist, effectively).
I like the attitude though. Live your life that way (work hard, play hard, make sacrifices to get the worthy things) and you're on the right path. |

Solid advice. I bought my 1st E46 M3 brand new at age 24. 7 years later I'm in an E92. And next year will be the F82. Addicted to ///M!

I leased mine at 24...
but here's the key, i purchased an investment home (2 family) at 22 with my sister. I felt extremely guilty about getting a 76k car at 24, but justified with the fact that i own my home. If i rented, lived at home, etc, i would not be in this car. Most people in their 20s can afford this car if they live with their parents; however, its just not the right decision.

What I didn't mention in the video is that getting the M4 wasn't only buying any ol car, the connections I have made through the community have been invaluable, I started my own company recently and a handful of my most influential business advisors have been people I met through cars. 2 of them have actually been more like mentors in guiding me.
I go to networking events all the time but the connections there never stick, never feel organic, the true friends that I have now are people I met through car stuff

I've seen so many young people make some money off of stocks. But these guys are also making some money off of YouTube. I am the biggest fan of the modern day entrepreneur. They are very unique and I wish I could get on that level. The hustle is different today Quote:
Here is the fact it is very lucky to get the car at any age under any circumstances.

Congrats OP! Never had my own car until the age of 22. Grew up in Turkey and attended one of the best colleges there to get my degree in Computer Science. It was a private college, I was on a scholarship and all those rich kids were driving Ms, Lambos, Porsches, etc. I've been into cars since I was 5-6 so seeing all those cars everyday at school used to make me think that "am I ever going to get one of these". I graduated in 2012 and came to the US for my masters degree. Right after grad school I found a job in Silicon Valley and bought a brand new 328i Sportline. 2 years later at the age of 26, I'm leasing an M4 ZCP. A dream just came true Sometimes things seem unreachable but hard work always pays off Congrats again OP, affording an M car by yourself in your 20s is not easy job

The notion of budgeting and living within your means is a good lesson for all ages. Figuring this out early will yield massive benefits no matter what your earning potential is in the future.
Of course, getting lucky on a stock isn't a bad way to start either.

there's no "secret to success". it's always a varying combination of hard work, sacrifice, and luck (in varying degrees). you can't forecast or depend on luck though.
however, affording these cars is different than being able to pay for them (particularly with how easy it is to get financing/credit these days). I don't want to sound like an old codger, but I would respectfully submit that anybody who wants to get a nice car should focus first on their career and getting to a point where they're earning enough that they don't need to save up in order to pay for it. I'm a big believer that you should focus on the revenue component of your income statement before the expenses. |

This car shouldn't be your reach item. Your reach item should be something that has an ROI, which is almost NEVER a car. I saved up to buy a house-- that has an ROI to me, and i have built in equity should i want to refi, sell, etc. Its sad that my generation has not found the value of these lessons yet. Either way, good for the OP for hustling for what he wants

The only person you are in competition with in life is yourself. If you ever place yourself against others you will never reach your own full potential.
Theres 18 years old's in Aventadors. But who cares? Work hard, continuously educate yourself, and with a little luck anything is possible. |

Big time producers like PewDiePie make 12 mill a year, but after taxes, and 60% YouTube cut only left with a couple mill. Regardless a couple mill to produce views of yourself playing video games doesn't seem like a bad gig. Success on YouTube is all about the amount of subscribers you have. |

Family building business.
Old man threw me in the deep end, had to find clients to build for and ran projects from start to finish. If I made a certain amount of money on the project, I got a cut. I think I came across as arrogant, I meant it in a cheeky term haha. Thanks though bud. Quote:

Some good advice in the video. Budgeting is probably the most overlooked aspect of personal finance that people overlook. Real budgeting as in use something like quicken to know EXACTLY where your money is going. Project the entire year to see how much you will be able to put away at the end of the year. I especially like how the OP mentions running his personal finances like a corporation. YES. For those of us who run our own businesses, that's how I do it. In fact, I am an incorporated to take advantage of business tax breaks and split income. I'm literally a corporation of one.
Having said that, there are investments that are more stable than the stock market. Kids, max out your 401k, IRA, ROTH IRA etc. If the market is right and you are in it for the long haul; real estate. Leasing or buying you're going to end up paying close to and over $1000/month for an M3. That's the different between paying rent and paying a mortgage. The difference being that a mortgage could potentially return you hundreds of thousands (in my market at least), whereas rent is basically burning money. Are there risks? Sure! The housing bubble is a lesson learned that there is no investment without risk. But overall, it's still a solid investment.
