Yes, once it begins production there is a VIN. Get it from the 800 number or from your dealer.

I didn't think the 800# would give you a VIN? If not, obviously I would get it from your CA and then obsess about it and call the 800# everyday like we all did.

I am in production scheduled to finish tomorrow. Is there a way to find exactly what phase i am in right now? The 800 person didnt seem to know how to break it down anymore than "in prod".

The 800 automated number should tell you (between begin/end production) based on these:

000 Ordered at dealer
111 Order Accepted at AG
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
182 AG Load No. -- Released to Carrier
190 Dispatched export BMW AG

Mine stayed in the body shop for a few weeks, then hit paint and complete in a day or so

A few weeks? Did you have individual options? My whole production is only going to take like 8 days it looks like.

I've only heard two replies from the automated system:

Scheduled for production with no confirmed production date
In production with a scheduled completion date of 9/23 (tomorrow)

My MyBMW page shows the car as "In production" now. Which means it went from 111 status, to 112 status, to (presumably) 150 status. Though the automated line never mentioned a thing about the various statuses.

I plan on speaking to somebody there tomorrow to confirm that production is complete.

This is how I got mine. Keep calling until someone "cool" answers and tells you what you want.

Weird, the automated line told me where mine was ("in the body shop" or "in the paint shop")
