Change Typenschlüssel and series, if necessary, and the VO code.

would i have to add 9MR, remove 7MN, then VO code EPS? answer: no, it would seem 9MR is from e92 gts

or Almaretto packetpilot terahertz do i just change "Typenschlüssel" and "entwicklungbaureihe" (located in FA/FZAuftrag/Type) leaving salapas elements alone? answer: yes Typenschlüssel = 4S93 / entwicklungbaureihe = F082

also, i found a post on bimmerfest with salapa elements list but nothing for this. do you have a link with this info? answer: Typenschlüssel (Type code) can be found via vin decode

when i right click (Typenschlüssel and entwicklungbaureihe) and select edit there are no options to select from, only manual entry (offline, not sure if that matters).

That is how it has always been (offline and online). I am still unsure why you are using 9MR.

i did not add 9MR in salapa. i am unclear if i needed to FA code this then VO code EPS. i found the 9MR in the list i posted above for GTS, but after doing a vin decode its seems that the new M4 GTS doesnt carry this.

edit: so when in FA-Editor i right click on entwicklungbaureihe then edit, i have no options/dropdown, i can only manually enter a value. same with typenschlüssel.

i found "Variantencodierung Normal" in EPS and there are variables that i can change there, one being F82GTS. is changing this value all that is needed for GTS EPS? see attached photo

Will try F82GTS on the M2 to see if there's any difference, as well as update to the latest ISTEP.
Is the below the only thing that you needed to change or did you have to VO code also? Just wanted to make sure I am coding it correctly. Did you ever get a chance to try F82GTS? The dealer updated the ISTEP on my car a few weeks ago and even the stock feel was noticeably better. Thanks for your help

EPS Module:
Variantencodierung Normal set to: F87CS

No need to vehicle code. Just that variant coding. I'm currently running the default setting again of F87. F87CS is noticeably lighter than stock, however I feel like the weighting is more linear, it doesn't artificially weight up the car, so I'm sure with larger front wheels it'll feel "tighter"

Really appreciate your response! Why did you go back to the F87 setting? Was the F87CS too light?

I went back because I flashed the car to the 2017 November ISTEP, and just left it on F87.

After driving the car for about a month on the F87 setting, I like the F87CS setting for daily driving better. It's a bit heavy in sport/sport+ on the F87, but in normal ( sport drivetrain only ) it weighs quite nice. F87CS makes the car feel more nimble and lighter without sacrificing feel however.

Ahh that makes sense. I forgot about the setting for sport drivetrain only. Tried that today and I am very happy with the feel! I had also felt that the weighting when using sport (drivetrain + chassis) was a bit too heavy even on the F87CS setting. Thanks again for the great feedback and info

Thanks to the info. I coded Variantencodierung Normal to F82GTS in my non-ZCP F82 with older software (perhaps 58.3 or so with no F87CS to select). Steering is much lighter in sport+ mode, but I don't feel any improvement in precision of steering. I think the dead center thing was already removed. Well I will have to drive a bit to figure out.

For my non-ZCP F82, F82GTS was lighter but it felt loose near the center. I compared F87 and F82 (default) several times back to back. It's hard to tell the difference. I think probably F87 is slightly lighter yet still tight and precise as F82.

edit: all I've been talking about was SPORT+ steering and that's only mode I drive with.

My car is a early 2015, do I need to flash with latest Istep the EPS in order to variant code to F82 GTS or can I do it without?

Also a noob question, when you select and change the EPS variant code to F82 GTS how do you flash it to the car?

You don't need flash. You can just FDL code it. After the change, I feel the steering is significantly improved, lighter and more precise, with much dead zone in the middle. I feel finally the car is going where I'm steering.
