For you guys with the Musicar system do you have any dimming? Curious how these cars can handle the extra load. I've got Bavsound stage 1 and Ghost subs in my H/K system but looking for more of course ;-)

No issues whatsoever. Assuming you are referring to lights dimming, and/or other electrical issues due to the increased power draw of the amps.

Only issue I have had is that the support to hold the trunk sub in place is lacking; it started coming out and sliding around if I took a corner too fast. Had to put some brackets in to hold it in place.
Hey Dave I've been battling this same issue. Glad to here it's happening to others as well. Could you snap a pic of your brackets and post them up. I'd like to find a solution because as much as I love the system I'm getting really tired of shoving that sub back into the corner where it belongs.

So at least (2) of you are saying that the sub enclosure that costs $500 does not stay in place even with supplied brackets installed correctly?

Sound like $$ well spent on that particular item

If that's what you got from this discussion, your reading comprehension is pretty piss poor. Go ahead and roll your eyes, though, and feel superior. I will enjoy some good music from a good system, including a great subwoofer.

No problem. It looks a little ghetto, but my car is not a show car. It's a track beast that also has great creature comforts, including a very nice sound system.

I didn't read this entire thread, no need to - I know about the quality of the components/systems Musicar sells - I also know he charges top $$

Which is fine, but if YOU are comfortable in paying $500 for a sub enclosure that doesn't stay in place everytime you go around the corner - then goody for you. Personally I would be slightly upset & want the problem remedied for that kind of $$

If that makes me superior, then so be it...

I surely would not want my car looking like the solution you had to use to keep it in place

I will

One thing that I don't lack is eyesight - you go ahead & enjoy your M4 with (4) Home Depot brackets, lag bolted into the car, to hold your expensive enclosure, with the smashed grill due to it flying around in the trunk

Fairly certain my pretty little F32 with the Stage2 turbo will kick your ghetto M4 any time...

I'm done with you

I also have the Musicar sub installed and have been very happy with it. I have yet to have the speaker fall out of place. I dont track the car, so maybe that has something to do with it. This was my second purchase from them. I'll probably do it again in whatever I drive next

Dave - I haven't installed mine yet (awaiting return from ED), but I am curious why it tends to come out of place so often. Do you drive you car really hard (cornering, etc.)? I know it is fine with you, but I agree with 1quik in that it is certainly a sub-optimal solution to have 4 showing brackets (kinda defeats the purpose of the OEM-look, IMO). I am hoping I can come up with a hidden fastening solution if the movement of the box is prevalent.

Fully admit it's not aesthetically pleasing. Not really a concern for me, though.

However, my sub was one of the first ones MusciarNW built for the M4, and they have since changed the design slightly, to incorporate mounting bolts on the interior of the box (hidden). So any newer ones shouldn't have any issues. Someone posted earlier about this, as well.

Thanks! Yeah not the prettiest but funtion is all I really need. Mine is not a show car either. I could always hit my brackets with a little black spray paint to make it a little less obvious.

Before that, maybe try some of those strong interlocking plastic “velcro” strips on the bottom of the speaker (or wherever you can hide them). Might be a much better looking solution, worst case it doesn’t work and you’re out $20 or so.

I tried that. Doesn't work well in spirited driving, and doesn't work at all on the track. Of course, I mostly take it out for track days, but I occasionally get lazy.

As for aesthetics, it would help to understand more my view on the looks of my car when you realize I'm also the guy who has a trailer hitch on the rear of my M4. I use it to pull a small tire trailer for track wheels/tires and tools. Also occasionally use a hitch mount bike rack to put my various bikes on. For me, function >> form.

I assume you looked into this, but couldn’t you remove the speaker from the box, mount the box then reinstall the speaker. Not sure how this would impact the speaker performance, but you at least hide the mounting.

That's how the new mount works, from my understanding The only issue with that is it makes battery access difficult, in that you have to remove the speaker, then remove the box.

I mean, I know you say it's just a track car, but it's still an M4. And IMO even if it's a Corolla, I would attempt a little more workmanship than that, but maybe that's just me.
